Increase horsepower in your 2019+ Mazda 3 with the easy to install Intake
CS Short Ram Intake

We’ll admit this intake has been a bit of a challenge since Mazda has switched to a new style of MAF sensor that is very sensitive to changing the intake. We’re happy to report that we’ve figured everything out and have had 5 Mazda 3 cars successfully testing the short ram intake for hundreds of miles with no issues. Now, onto the fun stuff!

Stay Up-to-date with CorkSport

Let’s jump right into the fun stuff: power! By removing the restrictive factory intake and filter, and replacing them with the CorkSport SRI, we were able to pick up 5-7WHP and 5-7WTQ when tested back to back on our dyno. This was tested within an hour or so of each other, with no tuning changes, and with the only change being the intake swap. Check out the dynograph down below! For both intakes, the only other mod on the test car was a prototype CS axle back exhaust (coming soon!). This will not affect power gain from the intake as it was installed for both tests.

Power is not the only benefit though. The CS short ram intake offers a great visual boost to your engine bay. You can even personalize your intake as you can select between red, blue, and black silicone and filter as well as polished or black clamps. Appearance is not even the best part-the CorkSport Mazda 3 Short Ram Intake adds some much-needed growl to the engine to give some more excitement when you get on the gas. It’s not obnoxious, but noticeable and definitely enjoyable.

To make the power and great noise, each component in the CS SRI has been optimized for performance. Starting at the filter, an AEM Dry-Flow is used for fantastic airflow capacity without compromising filtration. A non-oiled filter is used specifically to prevent issues with the MAF sensor.

Next comes the billet MAF housing. We use a precision machined MAF sensor housing to ensure the diameter of the intake near the MAF sensor is an exact match to the OEM diameter. This keeps fuel trims in check and keeps the check engine light off. A billet MAF housing has the added benefit of looking great, especially when finished off with an attractive laser-etched logo.

We have 3 color options available for the 2019+ Mazda 3 intake

The MAF housing connects to the throttle body with a custom-designed and reinforced silicone coupler. It is a perfect fit with the OEM throttle body and valve cover vent hose while the four layers of nylon braiding keep the silicone strong for years to come. This piece of silicone has the added benefit of being completely smooth on the inside versus the accordion OEM rubber piece. This helps promote flow into your engine.

Finally, all of the components are tied together with stainless steel T-bolt clamps. These clamps offer superior sealing characteristics over a traditional worm gear clamp and are not prone to stripping like a worm gear clamp.

2004-2013 Mazda 3 bolt in coolant reservoir

We’re happy to welcome another product we have resurrected from the dead: the CorkSport Aluminum Coolant Reservoir for 2004-2013 Mazda 3 and 2010-2013 Mazdaspeed 3. We also have one for the Gen 1 Mazaspeed coolant tank. Back and better than ever, we have completely redesigned the tank from the ground up. We ended up with a tank that performs just like OEM yet will stand up to the test of time and look a hell of a lot better while doing it!

2004-2013 Mazda 3 & Mazdaspeed 3 bolt in coolant reservoir

As the Mazdaspeed GEN1 and GEN2 get older, the OEM plastic tanks become more and more prone to failure. The constant changes in pressure and temperature, plus the chemicals in the coolant cause the plastic to weaken over time. The aluminum used for the CS coolant tank will hold up better over time, ridding you of the hassle of a leaky coolant tank. To ensure proper functionality, the CS coolant res includes internal baffling, just like OEM. The baffling keeps air bubbles from entering the cooling system under aggressive driving conditions and ensures your cooling system will be operating as intended, regardless of how you’re driving.

A replacement for the ugly plastic coolant tank for the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Mazdaspeed 3

The CorkSport Mazdaspeed coolant reservoir is designed specifically as a replacement for the OEM Mazda tank, which means no drilling, fabrication, or other modifications. The OEM coolant hoses even work perfectly with the CS tank. To check the coolant level in the CS res, since you obviously can’t see through the aluminum, we include a sight tube on the front of the tank that easily displays how much coolant is present. As an additional upgrade from OEM, we include a 1.5bar (~22psi) radiator cap for better protection against overheating. Plus, should you want even a higher pressure cap, it uses a typical radiator cap connection, so upgrading is easy. Finally, an overflow hose is included, which can easily be adapted to fit with a catch tank, should you need one when racing at a track.

Replacement for the OEM plastic coolant tank for the 2010-2013 Speed3

We haven’t yet touched on what is possibly the best part of the CorkSport coolant reservoir: appearance! With its simple design and sleek wrinkle black powder coat finish, it is a great fit in almost any engine bay. Let’s be honest, the OEM tanks look okay at best when brand new, yet within a few months, they become yellowed and ugly. The CS coolant tank is a great finishing touch for your Mazda’s engine bay. We even hid the mounting locations to provide you with the cleanest look!

2010-2013 Mazda 3 coolant tank upgrade

Each CorkSport Mazdaspeed Coolant Reservoir gets a lot of love before it heads out our doors. The tanks are first laser cut from 11 gauge aluminum and then precision formed before being TIG welded together. Each tank gets a cap, sight tube, and fittings which are all chosen specifically for use with pressure and automotive coolant so they will hold up over the years. Finally, once assembled, we pressure test every tank to ensure no leaks for your Mazda. All of this comes with the hardware needed for installation, color instructions, and CS support!

Guess Who’s Back

We are proud to announce a old product that we have redesigned.  Introducing the V2 CorkSport Coilovers for 2004-2013 Mazda 3 and Mazdaspeed 3.

We’ve taken the same basic designed and revised and refined it with small changes to fitment and big changes to spring rates and damping rates.

Complete Mazdaspeed 3 Coilover Suspension

For spring rates we took an approach that seems to differ with most street oriented kits on the market today.  We wanted to develop coilovers that were both enjoyable to drive on the street in a daily driven car, but could also perform on the track in more performance oriented settings.   With these goals we focus on the ride feedback, understeer/oversteer balance, and suspension frequency balance.

The result; linear rate 7K front springs and 8.5K rear springs. This provided us with a ride quality that was comfortable, but sport focused and with the right balance of understeer vs oversteer, with a car that is more oversteer biased.  The frequency of the suspension was also taken into consideration with a higher rear frequency than front to improve driver feedback and comfort.

Mazda 3 coilover suspension

Like most coilovers, ride height adjustability is essential to setting up you Mazdaspeed 3 or Mazda 3 for your goals.  The redesigned CS coilovers offer 2 inches of height adjustability from approximately 0.75 inches to 2.75 inches lower than stock springs.  This range of ride height allows you to have a conservative track-oriented setup or a slammed show setup depending on your goals.

With ride height, you can also adjust the front camber setup with the CS Coilovers include front camber plate, this kit comes to your door ready to install.

Street Performance 1st Gen Speed3 Coilovers

Lastly, and also somewhat unique to CS, is the design of the front coilovers.  Instead of a more conventional and cost effective design, we’ve utilized an inverted damper design for improve performance.  By inverting the front damper/shock, we’ve both reduce the unsprung weight of the front suspension and increased the rigidity.  Both of these result in increased driver feedback and improved performance.

2nd Gen Mazdaspeed 3 Suspension

If you been considering lowering springs or coilovers for you Mazda 3 or Mazdaspeed 3 then give CS a good look. Thanks for taking the time to checkout CS, stay connected on the blog, newsletter and social media channels for upcoming performance parts for your Mazda.

80mm Gen3 Mazda3 Cat-Back Exhaust

CorkSport 80mm Exhaust Installed
CorkSport 80mm Exhaust Installed

4 years ago, we released the 60.5mm Exhaust kit for the 3rd Gen Mazda 3 (both in axle back and full cat back flavors). It’s certainly been a hit, but there have been a few of you longing for more noise. Today we are proud to announce the 80mm variant of our cat back exhaust for the 2014-2018 Mazda 3 Hatchback and Sedan! At this time, just the hatchback version is available, but we will have the Sedan version ready in just a few short months.

The Dirty Details

Now I know what you’re thinking, an 80mm exhaust for Mazda 3 seems excessively large for a naturally aspirated car making less than 200whp. But, hear me out because I think you’ll like what’s coming.

80mm piping allows for some unique & louder tones its smaller little brother can’t offer, but it wasn’t as easy as just using the old design and making the pipes larger. We had to do quite a bit of resonator experimentation and NVH analysis to get to the finished result with as little drone as possible. I’ll be upfront with you guys though, this is loud. It’s a good loud with tons of fun noises, but if you’re looking for something subtler, then our 60.5mm cat back or axle back may be a better fit. We do a good job of capturing the audio for you though so you have a good understanding of what you’re getting. Be sure to check out the product video to hear it.

Listen Now!

The Beauty of the Design

For those wanting this more aggressive exhaust note, sound isn’t the only bonus. We thought about the appearance, and how we could take advantage of this time to tinker with the design. The 80mm does a nice job of not only filling the exhaust tunnel under the car, but the axle back portion is a bit more prominent when you catch a glance.

On the Hatchbacks, the exhaust tips got a nice size increase up to 100mm and they are slant cut to help follow the profile of the bumper. Sedans have also been upsized to 100mm tips, which were lowered slightly to ensure your bumper doesn’t melt with the large piping. This has the added bonus of making the tips a little more visible from the rear and side of the car. In both cases, the way the upsized exhaust accents the rear of the car provides an aftermarket look, that’s classy and somehow the way it always should have been from the factory.

CorkSport Quality

As with every CorkSport exhaust, this new 80mm Mazda 3 Cat Back Exhaust variant is made from fully polished T-304 stainless steel for long-lasting corrosion resistance. All flanges, hangers, and resonators are precision TIG welded in place while all of the piping is made with smooth mandrel bends. Each resonator uses a direct flow-thru design to keep the drone down and the volume up without sacrificing power.

Power Levels

Speaking of power, check out the dyno graph below. The upsize to 80mm showed similar power gains as the 60.5mm variant, so the extra size isn’t really needed at similar to stock power levels (aside from the great noise of course!). The only change in parts or tune between the two graphs was the exhaust. OEM exhaust (red) vs. CorkSport Mazda 3 80mm Exhaust (green).

CorkSport 80mm Exhaust Power Gains
+6.6HP!

We also believe it’s also very important to be prepared. Future proofing your car for mods down the road is always a great idea, and you’ve probably heard that we have a turbo kit (yes it’s still happening!) and race header in the works. More on those projects later, but I’ll let you put 2 & 2 together…
