CorkSport is proud to announce the SkyActiv Aluminum Oil Catch Can. An excellent product to help increase the life of your engine, helping capture the oil and contaminants is now available for the SkyActiv.

Specifically designed to to fit the 2012-2013 Mazda 3 SkyActiv models. Easy installation and a direct OEM fitment.

An oil catch can is designed to โ€œcatchโ€ unwanted vapors that are in your crankcase and PCV system and prevent these contaminates from entering your motor. With no catch can installed, you have the potential to get build up in the intake manifold causing dirty valves and poor compression.

The Fast and The Furious RC Car Edition

I often find myself wishing that I had grown up in the world of the Fast and the Furious. As cheesy and “riced” as it was you just couldn’t help but think about how much fun that would be. Case in point, who doesn’t want the Fast and Furious shifter:

Sometimes we just run out of gear changes before we want, but not in the Fast and the Furious Universe.

Anyway, I’m sure the Fast and the Furious movies have caused more late night “spirited” driving sessions than we care to admit. I know I’ve had a run or two that was slightly more dangerous than usual after I just couldn’t handle watching the driving anymore, but instead just HAD to be driving. Luckily I never had to hand over my “pink slip“.

With that said, I recently got to check out this epic and super well done RC car animation, that is a Fast and Furious tribute to Paul Walker:

The video was put together by Vax Studios. I’d like to think that they harnessed all the energy from every one of those unneeded shifts into the real world and instead created this video. Who knows?

Summer Cruising

– Summer Cruising –

There is no better feeling than knowing that summer time is near.

As the temperature starts to warm up after a particularly long and brutal winter, it’s natural for a car enthusiastโ€™s thoughts to drift to the highlights of summer: frosty beer, epic barbecues, road trips, the track, Auto X and just hanging out among friends. In preparation for summer, some enthusiasts meticulously suit up their cars and shine up their paint. Whereas others, too eager to feel the pavement under their wheels, skip the detailing just to hit the road.

Whichever your approach, there’s something about a sunny day or a warm evening that just motivates people to move.

No matter what car you have, make this summer a great one. For me, there is no greater feeling than driving a Mazda: โ€œThe more you look, the more you like.โ€

Mazda has recently been in talks about a replacement for the CX-9. Masahiro Moro, the head of Mazda global sales and marketing, mentioned a downsized turbocharged solution to replace the ย Ford V6 it currently uses. What really makes this appealing to me is the fact a turbo motor that can haul around a CX-9 sized vehicle could make a Mazda 3 really fly!

The CX-9 weighs in at 4323 lbs. for the front wheel drive model and the Mazda 3 is a svelte 2797 lbs. which is ~1500 lbs less.

Can you say rocketship! If Mazda spends the time to develop the turbo engine for the CX-9 replacement with research on more applications for it to fit it in, it will make this much more of a possibility for it to be used in a future Mazdaspeed 3.
Keep your fingers crossed,

Derrick
