Product Release! Corksport Stage One Power Series Short Ram Intake for Mazdaspeed 3

Many of you already have our top-selling CorkSport Power Series Short Ram Intake with Turbo Inlet Pipe (that will now be known as the CorkSport Stage Two Power Series Short Ram Intake) in which case you have already made a wise investment, but for those of you that have been saving up for the CorkSport intake, we have just made your lives a little easier!

Today, we are releasing our all-new CorkSport Stage One Power Series Short Ram Intake! Developed as an introductory package, the stage one intake replaces the factory airbox with an open intake system while maintaining the use of the factory turbo inlet pipe.

Unlike our classic CorkSport Power Series Short Ram Intake, this kit does not include an upgraded turbo inlet pipe allowing us to provide this introductory package for your Mazdaspeed. This affordable option for upgrading the Mazdaspeed 3 intake system includes our precision machined MAF housing made from billet aluminum with included air straightener, durable dry flow air filter, and custom-reinforced silicone connector.

This easy-to-install short ram intake forces volumes of air to your engine through the dry flow air filter and MAF housing and down the silicone connector providing a noticeable improvement in power along with improved fuel economy. Initially testing the CorkSport Stage One Mazdaspeed 3 Short Ram Intake netted peak gains of +12 HP and + 17 lb torque.

Choose from a red, blue or black air filter and MAF housing to customize the look of your engine bay, and polished T-bolt clamps to tailor the look of your intake system.

This was developed as an affordable alternative to CorkSport’s number one selling Mazdaspeed 3 Power Series Intake System with included turbo inlet pipe. By adding the CorkSport Mazdaspeed 3 Turbo Inlet Pipe, customers can expect to see an additional 14% improvement in airflow over the stock pipe and significantly decreased airflow turbulence by removing the restrictive nature of the stock pipe with the sweeping curves associated with the mandrel-bent aluminum 60mm piping used in the CorkSport pipe.

As a kit, the intake and turbo inlet pipe can be purchased together or purchase the intake separately and add the turbo inlet pipe when you’re ready. We carry a variety of Mazdaspeed short ram intakes to choose from so check out our shop and get the SRI right for you.

In honor of Valentines day, CorkSport wanted to release something red and shiney for you to give to your true love, your Mazda!

Now available, CorkSport Mazda 3 and Mazdaspeed 3 LED bumper light Kit! These premium quality light assemblies include 16 LED lights in each lens and are built for durability and reliability. Precision manufactured to match the OEM factory specifications, the CorkSport LED Rear Bumper Lights are easy to install and offer a perfect fit for your Mazda 3 or Mazdaspeed 3.

We developed the LED Bumper lights in response to a product request submitted by customer Andrew Parmenter and are pleased with the result of the development process and Andrews feedback and suggestions.   It’s amazing how something as small as switching out the LED reflectors can have such an impact on the look of your Mazdaspeed 3.

We will be offering the kit for 2010-2012 Mazdaspeed 3 and 2010-2012 Mazda 3 models  in your choice of red or smoked lenses. The kit comes with color installation instructions and all of the needed hardware to install the part including the wiring connectors needed to wire the kit into your turn signals to connect the lights as a blinker.

Product Release! CorkSport Redesigned Turbo Inlet Pipe

CorkSport is pleased to announce the re-release of the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe for the Mazdaspeed 3, Mazdaspeed 6 and CX7. The newest version of our turbo inlet pipe has been redesigned to provide seamless fitment with OEM or other aftermarket intake systems by replicating the fitment of the factory TIP to the intake.

This popular product maintains its ability to provide improved responsiveness and power while now providing even better fitment for customers running stock or other another non-CorkSport brand aftermarket intake.

Unlike other turbo inlet pipes on the market, CorkSport’s Turbo Inlet Pipe is constructed from mandrel bent aluminum making it a true high performance turbocharger inlet pipe. It has been designed with a downstream recirculation valve fitting to prevent turbulence backwash around the MAF sensor and avoid unnecessary check engine lights and stumbling.

During extensive testing, the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe showed a 14% improvement over the stock pipe and significantly decreased airflow turbulence by removing the restrictive nature of the stock pipe with the sweeping curves associated with the mandrel bent aluminum 60mm piping used in the CorkSport pipe.

CorkSport has designed the turbo inlet pipe to be purchased as a standalone piece to compliment your current stock or aftermarket intake set-up or can be purchased with the CorkSport Mazdaspeed 3 Short Ram Intake for the best value on the market.

When combined with the CorkSport Mazdaspeed 3 Short Ram Intake, flow test results showed a 54% improvement over the stock air box and turbo inlet pipe and netted max gains in dyno testing of +25lbs of torque and +33HP.

Sold separately the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe can be purchased for $109.00 and can be customized to compliment the look of your engine bay with polished or powder coated black aluminum piping and your choice of red, black or blue silicone. Purchase the CorkSport Short Ram Intake along with the turbo inlet pipe for an additional $140.00 to get the most gains from this power modification.

Product Release! CorkSport Mazdaspeed 3 Front Camber Kit

I’m proud to announce the release of the CorkSport Mazdaspeed 3 Front Camber Kit, our deepest customer collaboration effort to date!

It all began over a year ago with a product submission from Todd Friar, a well-respected member of the Mazdaspeed3 community that you can often find contributing on the forums as Todd98se.

Based on his submission we began exploring manufacturability when we received a second product idea submission from Eric Poyer on 5/03/2011 that helped to confirm the viability of this product. With a second customer willing to participate in the development process we felt confident we could design a part that would be a sales success.

We collected their input on important features and target price and after a few weeks, we presented drawings to Eric and Todd for their consideration.

With their feedback in hand, we developed sample sets for test fitment.

We confirmed successful installation in our shop then got a sample sent out to Todd for further feedback. He even wrote up a fantastic installation process post on the Mazdaspeed forums.

Our initial design required cutting the strut tower, something we were well used to seeing having been in this business for so long. Eric however, was resistant to the idea of cutting his strut tower, something we then realized may be an issue for other customers as well, and a detail we may have missed had it not been for his involvement in the development process.

We knew we had to go back to the drawing board to remove the requirement to cut the strut tower and we also knew we needed to reassure people that cutting the strut tower would not compromise the integrity of the vehicle.

Using Solidworks, we did some force analysis testing that backed up what we already knew from experience and provided the data needed to show that it is possible to safely remove some material from the strut towers.

We also redesigned the camber plates to allow for installation without cutting the strut tower by recessing the bolts.

Other features we incorporated into the production version from Todd’s feedback are larger M10 studs which reduce camber variation during removal and reinstallation and longer studs to allow for improved fitment with strut tower bars.

The final product is a front camber kit that provides up to -3 degrees of negative camber with aftermarket coilovers and can be installed without any permanent modifications. Proper cutting of the strut tower allows for easy access camber tuning to dial in performance handling on and off the track.

Solid pillow ball bearings and housing reduce unwanted upper strut mount deflection and improve handling during racing and high performance driving.

Our camber kit can be used with aftermarket lowering springs and OEM springs for reduced upper strut mount deflection, however, negative camber is limited to 1.5 degrees due to spring interference. We will be revising the CorkSport lowering springs to allow for a wider range of camber adjustment and expect them to be out later in 2012.
