Featured Car of the Month: Kritz’s Speed3

When Steve first approached me about being sponsored by CorkSport, he smartly sent along some swag from a recent surf competition near his home on the south shore of Long Island NY. Being an ex-surfer myself, it certainly didnโ€™t hurt his chances, but buttering me up with free stuff wasnโ€™t what convinced me that Steve would be excellent at representing CorkSport in the community. It was his passion for Mazda performance and for CorkSport, his unrelenting positive attitude, and his enthusiasm for being a part of the Mazda community that made him an ideal candidate to wear the CorkSport badge.

Steve Kritzberg (Kritz on the forums) is a true Mazda enthusiast if youโ€™ve ever met one. This may be a more recent obsession for him, but he has immersed himself in the forums and become an active member in his local Nator New York group and the surrounding chapters in NJ and PA, hosting install days, BBQโ€™s, and helping to plan events for the local chapter.

His 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 is his first Mazda, but he has always had a love for cars. Modding took a backseat to raising kids and his work as a local 1 plumber for a while, but his wife of 18 years has been very understanding about his recent affliction of the โ€œmod-syndromeโ€ and all things car related. Now a weekend autocrosser and recent winner of Best Mazdaspeed at the annual Torontomazda3 Forum Meeting of the Mazdas, Steveโ€™s work is really starting to pay-off.

Mazdas handle really well right off the lot, but Steve has spared no expense on perfecting the handling and suspension on his speed 3 adding a CorkSport Coilover Suspension Kit with Camber Plates, CorkSport Front Sway Bar with CorkSport End Links, CorkSport Rear Sway Bar, CorkSport Rear Chassis Brace Set, CorkSport Mid-Chassis Brace, Volk TE37 wheels with Dunlop Star Specs 245/45/17โ€™s, and a CorkSport Short Shift Plate and Shifter Bushings.

But just because he has spent a lot of time perfecting the suspension doesnโ€™t mean he forgot the go-fast parts with the addition of a CorkSport Downpipe, CorkSport Racepipe, CorkSport Large Core FMIC, Turbosmart BPV, and a custom tune by none other than Rob Finkle (da man) 50% E85.

If youโ€™ve ever been to Stormโ€™s OCC All Mazda Meet, you may have met Steve there and if you went last year, you may remember a little prank dreamed up by the local Nator crew with the help of CorkSport as Steve was given the CorkSport Senior Citizen award which he now proudly displays on his fireplace. He may be a little older than some of the crew he hangs with on the weekends, but โ€œold manโ€ Kritzberg is still young at heart!

Whatโ€™s next on the list for Steveโ€™s build? Well, big turbo of course!

Product Release! CorkSport Mazdaspeed 6 Short Shift Plate

CorkSport is pleased to announce the all new CorkSport Short Shift Plate designed specifically for the Mazdaspeed 6!

Mazdaspeed 6 Short Shift Plate Complete Kit

CorkSportโ€™s Mazdaspeed 6 Short Shift Plate has been designed to provide a 33% reduction in shift throw for more spirited driving. The unique design of our shift plate provides maximum benefit to Mazdaspeed 6 drivers by changing the geometry at the shifter end to remove the feeling of synchros where it is most noticeable, in gears one and two, and bolts directly to the car eliminating the need to bolt to the factory or an aftermarket counterweight.

Unlike some of the other shift plates on the market today, because the CorkSport Mazdaspeed 6 Shift Plate installs on the shifter end of the transmission, it eliminates any possibility of binding or rubbing on the shift links that shift plates installed at the transmission end may cause. It also makes installation a breeze, taking just 15-20 minutes install, allowing for customers to quickly transition back and forth between the factory shifter to short shifter if they so desire.

Speed6 Short Shifter

Made from precision machined steel plate with a powder coated black finish, the CorkSport Mazdaspeed 6 Short Shift Plate is built for lasting durability and good looks. It comes with all the needed hardware, full color installation instructions, and is backed by CorkSportโ€™s full two year warranty.

The CorkSport Mazdaspeed 6 Short Shift Plate is available at www.corksport.com

Vote for July’s Featured Car of the Month!

Time for our July face-off to see who will become CorkSportโ€™s next featured car of the month!

This month it is really going to come down to looks and current mods because we have two evenly matched competitors with Tommy Taberskiโ€™s 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 and Mark Kennedyโ€™s 2010 Mazdaspeed 3.

Kennedyโ€™s speed3 is all CorkSport featuring a Stage II SRI, Racepipe, Top Mount Intercooler, Interior LED Light Kit, Motor Mount Inserts, and several other performance parts including an Access Port, HPFP upgrades, recirculation Valve, and lowering springs.

Tommy has been building up his speed3 choosing to do a cold air intake over the short ram, adding a little suspension tuning with a front tower bar and upgrading his brakes with slotted front and rear brake rotors. His most recent additions include a CorkSport Cat Back Exhaust and Racepipe for some go fast power.

It’s anyones guess who will win this monthโ€™s honored award. Let us know by voting today on Facebook, Twitter, or commenting on this post!

Product Release! Mazdaspeed 3 CorkSport Adjustable Rear Camber Arms

Mazdaspeed3 adjustable rear suspension arms

CorkSport is happy to announce the addition of the CorkSport Mazda 3 and Mazdaspeed 3 Adjustable Rear Camber Arms to our growing list of suspension products!

Speed3 adjustable camber arms featuring spherical bearings

ย

By replacing your stock camber arms with the CorkSport Adjustable Camber Arms, you will be able to adjust your suspension to accommodate for lowering springs or coilovers and fine tune your Mazda or Mazdaspeed to the appropriate camber setting needed to balance uneven tire wear and improve cornering performance.

The CorkSport Mazda and Mazdaspeed Adjustable Rear Camber Arms are made from reinforced high strength extruded bent steel tubing that is stronger, less brittle, and more durable than aluminum. The adjustability provides precision tuning by allowing for +/- 5 degrees of camber adjustment and can be easily adjusted while installed on the vehicle using just a wrench.

Unlike other adjustable camber arm options on the market, CorkSportโ€™s unique design includes spherical bearings that replace the soft rubber bushings on the OEM camber arms, providing a true attachment to the suspension of the vehicle for improved handling and road feel.

โ€œThe CorkSport Rear Camber Arms allow you to fine tune your camber to exacting settings.โ€ said CorkSport Engineer, Brydon Foster, โ€œThe ease of adjustability and the unique nature of the spherical bearings will provide customers with improved cornering control that canโ€™t be outmatched by any other options on the market today.โ€

The CorkSport Adjustable Rear Camber Arms are available for all Mazdaspeed 3 and Mazda 3 vehicles.ย

This monthโ€™s winner for our blog segment, The CorkSport Featured Car of the Month, goes to Christian whoโ€™s 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 plays the looks and the part for the role!

This Tustin, CA resident was featured in the CorkSport booth at Mazfest 2011 and with good reason. He sports a CorkSport Front Mount Intercooler, CorkSport Downpipe, CorkSport Racepipe, and CorkSport Power Series Exhaust on his Mazdaspeed.

But the mods donโ€™t stop there, in addition to his CS go fast parts, he has also added a COBB xle bpv, upgraded his fuel pump internals and motor mounts and added a short shifter kit, CorkSport Skid Plate, and COBB AP.

For improved handling Christian has added HKS Hypermax Coilovers, Auto EXE front, rear, and bottom strut bars and BBS Wheels. To help him stop his speedy ride he has also added CorkSport Stainless Brake Lines and Stop Tech Slotted Rotors.

Ever since Christian learned how to build his first engine, he was hooked, but this is the first Mazda he has ever owned. He knew immediately that it was the perfect ride for him, โ€œIt is lightweight, powerful, and has superb handlingโ€ said Christian, โ€œAll I have to say is I love my Mazda.โ€

Whatโ€™s next on the list for this Mazda lover? An Act Lightweight Flywheel and Clutch, CorkSport Front Camber Plates and CorkSport Oil Catch Can.

I think I can speak for your Mazda Christian when I say; your Mazda loves you too.
