Just this morning some images of the next generation, or ND, MX-5 were posted to the internet. There are some interested aspects that can be seen through the camouflage cover it is wearing. Most noticeable is that large backend! We also notice the front seems to slope significantly more than the current generation, and of course, that it’s a soft top. We assume there will be plenty of room in that giant bottom though to fit a PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top) as an option. It certainly appears to be bigger, and smaller, all at the same time.
I could speculate more on the shape and style, but I’ll just leave these photos here for you to see:
Though the lines are hard to tell thanks to the camo wrap, we also had a teaser from Mazda of the car hidden under a blanketย cover. You can see some of the lines more distinctly, though they only give a rear shot.
I think it’s looking good so far, and can’t wait to see it for real! Stay tuned for more info and the official release on September 3rd!

CorkSport is happy to announce the release of our long awaited 2014+ Mazda 6 Axle Back Exhaust System. Designed by our engineers to be a simple, bolt on upgrade for the Skyactiv powered 2014+ Mazda 6. The dual tips with the CorkSport logo plates gives the Mazda 6 the missing piece to really make it stand out among the crowd. The exhaust note gives a pleasant tone which is not common with some exhausts on the market which are buzzy sounding. The exhaust features 65mm piping and dual resonators ending with 80mm double-walled exhaust tips constructed from 304 Stainless Steel.
A review from Jerod a customer who tested out the exhaust raves โThe exhaust is awesome! The tone is great and it really brings the car to life.ย The sound is a nice growl at startup and turns into a snarling monster at full throttle.ย At no moment does the sound become “obnoxious” like other lesser-quality brand exhaust systems… The exhaust is a beautiful sight to behold.ย It transforms the rear end of an already good-looking car into an aggressive yet elegant cruiser!ย All 10’s from me โ
As with all of our CorkSport exhausts, the Mazda 6 axle back features mandrel bent, polished stainless steel T304 construction for corrosion resistance and a clean stylish look. It has a distinctive performance sound that is mild but noticeable at cruise and idle and a distinctive growl at wide open throttle and free rev.
Want to hear how it sounds? Check out our video clip below:
If youโre a car enthusiast that wants performance, reliability, and of course cost effective upgrades, then Mazdaspeed injector seals should be on your wish listโฆwait doesn’t everybody want that for their Mazda? I think so; let me tell you whyโฆ
As car enthusiasts, we all ultimately seek more power. It starts with an air intake, and then we need more fuel, which leads to the high flow pump internals, but that only scratches the surface. Oh, then, Mr. Cobb finds himself plugged into your OBD II port, and youโre running 20+ psi, grinning ear-to-ear.ย Itโs OK; we are all guilty, some more than others, but something has to give, and so it does. What that is that gives, well, itโs easy to miss because your car is smart and compensates for it, but itโs happening. Youโve got bad injector seals! Donโt believe me?ย Iโll prove it!
You have probably run across injector seals while shopping for various other parts but didnโt pay attention to them. Essentially, they are fancy little cups that fit over the nozzle of the injector. Now for the real question: have you ever seen an OEM injector seal? Doubtful. They are tiny steel washers designed to crush and sealโฆthe stock ones are pitiful.
What happens when a seal doesnโt seal? All of your hard earned power escapes around it, making a mess of the injector and fuel rail. Look below youโll see that the injector ports in the cylinder head are filthy.
Starting on the left, the injector port is clean and shiny like freshly machined aluminum. Now look at the port farthest to right; black as night and a bit gritty. That seal gave up before the rest and I have a sneaking suspicion that it has to do with the EGR going through mainly that cylinder, but we will save that for another day. Here is a close up of the dirty injector before and after a scotchbrite rub down.
Now that is a big difference huh! Do you believe me yet? Maybe? Letโs compare the sealsโฆ
Look at that picture below and let that sink inโฆ
New CorkSport Mazdaspeed Seals:
Mazdaspeed OEM Seals:
Are you flabbergasted like I am? Huge difference! So, why do the differences matter? First off, itโs no longer just a washer with one sealing surface. Itโs a cup, so it seals in the OEM location AND along the side of the cup. Thatโs not all! The secret is in the design (which is all thanks to @Tokay444; from MazdaSpeedForums.org). Here is how it works. The lip at the bottom of the cup is flared just a bit so that it crushes down tight against the cylinder head, and as it crushes down it also crushes outward, pushing against the wall of the port much like an O-ring.
These four little beryllium copper cups are cheap and reliable, but how do they improve performance?ย Letโs go back to our power hungry example running 20+ psi; with blow-by around the injector seal. That leak has now disappeared, which means if itโs not escaping there then it must be doing โsomethingโ.ย That โsomethingโ is more power to your wheels and a happy MZR.ย Our previous dyno testing with the OEM seals and 21psi were never consistent, declining with each consecutive run. Our new seals restore that decline, each dyno pull now falls on the previous line perfectly and that was in 90+ degree weather.
Have I convinced you yet? Stay tuned for part 2; we are going to put some hard miles on the Mazdaspeed3 and then inspect the seals.
Hoping this finds you well and enjoying the late night rides with your โbabyโ, feeling the power beneath you and in your hands as you find your favorite spot to drive. Nothing like a late night summer drive to clear the mind and invoke positive vibes.
Iโve been well and learning more and more about how to connect with those same positive vibes while working. As you may know, I work in the customer service department. Itโs like choosing to work in the missing baggage claim area, or being the person who empties porta-potties, youโre bound to catch some crap and unhappiness each day.
Whatโs nice about my job is I am the decision maker; there is no โmanagerโ above me. Anyone who has a warranty claim or complaint knows theyโre dealing directly with the person who will be making the decisions and coming to a mutually reasonable resolution. Itโs more often than not that we do come to a mutually beneficial resolution, because Iโve been given permission to take care of our customers.
Now, in dealing with car companies, I know there are a lot of Car Guyโs that have horrific experiences, where a company has zero desire to take care of them or work through issues, so when they come to me with guns blazing and fists raised, I realize this is just from their past experiences.
I just wanted to take the time to tell you, that weโre a reasonable company and we know weโre not perfect, BUT weโre always willing to help. Weโre always willing to work towards a solution, and weโre always going to get back to you.
So when you call, Car Guy, know that if I donโt pick up, youโll hear from me that day. When you email, know that youโll get a reply within that same day. When I say Iโll call you back, you will be receiving a call back. When you ask a question, we are always willing to find the answer.
I hope you can understand our side of things a little better now, but just a heads up: As a standard, our company values its employees, and realizes that mental health and emotional well-being are more important than making a few bucks.
For whatever reason, I have experienced some people that just want to spread hate, and ill will. A burned out LED bulb is not worth being yelled at, cursed at, or being a personal punching bag for an angry Car Guy. This would make sense if we were a company that didnโt at least attempt and DESIRE to solve the problems as quickly as possible. We will always try out hardest to take care of those people, because we understand that sometimes itโs just a bad day, or youโve been put through the ringer by other companies before, but if necessary, I have been giving permission to โfire youโ.
What does it mean to be fired as a customer?
Ex: Angry Car Guy calls us and decides to yell, curse and/or throw a tantrum while I am trying to help. I reserve the right to hang up on you and 86 you as a customer. When you threaten us with personal insults and call us amazingly unoriginal names, and I am on the verge of tears, it just isnโt worth it anymore to try and be polite back. We will end the call, and move on with our days. We are here to help, not be the scape goats for your bad day.
Put your fists away, put the guns down, and come at me with a positive mindset, knowing that Iโm going to do anything and everything I can to get you taken care of. Iโll be in contact with you consistently to let you know what we need, and what weโre doing. If at any point you have questions, call me up and Iโll let you know what Iโm working on.
I am a customer service specialist. Yes, by nature this job isnโt going to be the most amazing all the time. Sometimes we have fallen short as a company and itโs my part to fix it and make your experience a more pleasant one. I am just hoping that, after reading this, you will know that we are here to help, and that we know that weโre not perfect. Give a chance to make it a better experience, refrain from yelling (because honestly it makes me cry sometimes), and know that weโre doing everything we can to get you taken care of as soon as possible.
Until next time, stay fast, stay safe, and stay happy!

Dear Car Guy – Don’t be a Jerk, Let’s get to Work April 24th, 2021Derrick Ambrose
Itโs been a while my friend. I hope this finds you well and enjoying the midsummer heat, hot nights, car shows, and scantily clad women that July and August tends to provide.
Over on our end of things, itโs been hot and busy! Keeping up with your requests has kept a smile on my face though. From a simple request for a drawing on the box, to the silly requests like sending livestock, โsurprise meโ, or simply โmake me smile when I open this upโ, itโs been a lot of fun and a good break to my day.
It got me thinking though, some of you get surprised without a request, others of you send them in as notes on your order, and still yet others will shoot a quick email saying youโd love to see what we at CorkSport can come up with.
So here I am, writing to you, sharing a few of my past favorite requests:
ย
Though we canโt honor all requests, we certainly try our best!ย Whether you want us to build you a sling shot, a lizard drawing on your box, or simply request us to send you the strangest thing we can find in our deskโฆ we love the personal aspect that we get to attach to your orders!
Often our best requests come from the comment field in order notes. Feel free to list notes, jokes, or requests in this box here:
So remember to feel free to request some drawings, or silly things, it breaks up the monotony and gives you (and us) a smile! Hope all stays well Car Guy! Until next time, stay fast, stay safe, and stay happy!
