CorkSport Gets Down and Dirtyโ€ฆ For the Community!!

A rainy afternoon playing in the mud, a sun-shiny day hanging out and making children smile, and another rainy morning, fighting a storm to pick up trash on a local beach. These are just a few of the ways that CorkSport gives back to its local community. Once every three months we put together a group of our employees to give back in some pretty unexpected and challenging ways.

Dirty

In February 2013, we paired up with some local โ€˜prosโ€™ through a program that rebuilds worn out trails in the local parks. We hiked 2 miles in with our tools and lunches in tow, dressed for what we were hoping was a fair weather day. Boy, were we wrong!

ย CorkSport Gets Dirty

We repaired parts of an older trail, and put in a couple switch backs to help with draining in the future so the trail might have a chance of being a little less muddy. Tools in hand, we dug in some places a full foot of mulch and mud out in order to level out and give proper foundation to what will be a fully graveled trail in the future.

Trail Maintenence with CorkSport

Off and on showers, some ankle deep mud trenches, and some โ€˜Seniorsโ€™ who made us feel as though we were slacking for taking a break or two made for a memorable team building experience. ย All in all it was a worth-while and enjoyable day, we felt accomplished and closer as a team after having completed some strenuous work with beautiful results.

Most Recently we took a Saturday morning and went to a local river-beach for some clean up.

Once again the weather laughed and laughed as we fought the wind, rain, and waves to find anything from cigarette butts and bed sheets to broken bottles and pieces discarded and forgotten clothing.

Wonderful to be outside, but we could have done without the temperatures and onslaught of the local weather system/left-overs from far away hurricanes.

Dirty Trashy CorkSpor

We have volunteered for the community with some childrenโ€™s outings, given back to the local work crews, and done some trash digging at the beach. We always make sure to do this on our own time so as not to interfere with business, but the rewards that come from volunteering are worth it any day!

Made for superior performance in all weather conditions, theย CorkSport brake padsย have been thoroughly tested for endurance and braking power both on and off the track.

โ€œUpgrading your brake pads will not only provide performance improvements for your Mazda, but provides added safety for your vehicle.โ€ Said CorkSport owner and race car driver, Derrick Ambrose โ€œHaving driven on these pads extensively, I can say without a doubt that you will notice improved stopping performance and braking responsiveness with CorkSport brake pads on your vehicleโ€

Will There Be a New Mazdaspeed 3??? With All Wheel Drive???

Is All Wheel Drive Possible???

With the news that has come out in the past few weeks about the next Mazdaspeed 3 and it being AWD.ย  Takeo Mariuchi, the program deputy manager was quoted as saying โ€œfrom a technical point of view itโ€™s not difficult to install a four wheel drive systemโ€ for the next version.ย  I took this as a non-committal response from Takeo to answer someoneโ€™s question.ย  But in the interest of wanting to see a AWD Mazdaspeed 3 myself, I decided to take a look at the CorkSport 2014 Mazda 3 when it was up on a lift this week.

Checking out the rear knuckles you can see they are open in the middle which would make adapting rear axles to be pretty straight forward.

Picture of 2014 Mazda 3 rear hub

I took a peak at the rear suspension of the CorkSport Cx5 as well and it is setup the same.  The next point which would have to be addressed is space for the driveshaft and transfer case for an AWD system.

picture of area for driveshaft

Sure enough there is a larger amount of space at the back of the engine bay to clear a transfer case and drive shaft.  The exhaust manifold looks to be the same from the CX5 AWD to give the clearance for needed systems.

In my opinion, the only thing standing in the way of this getting the green light is the bean counters looking at the past sales of AWD performance cars for Mazda.ย  In North America, the 323GTX didnโ€™t sell too well and the 06-07 Mazdaspeed 6 was not the biggest sales success either.ย  Let’s hope they overlook those and give us enthusiasts the car we have always wanted.
