Designed to shield the air from the engine, the CorkSport Air Box allows fresh air from the fender and the OEM air snorkel to reach your intake while blocking warm air from the engine. The reduced temperatures provide a boost in power you'll enjoy.

Testing:

During testing, the CorkSport SRI Airbox was subjected to both spirited driving and stationary idling on a warm, sunny day (~80°F, 26°C). The accompanying graph illustrates a five-minute idling period, simulating heavy traffic or waiting in line at the drag strip, followed by acceleration up to 50 mph (80 kph).

The CX-50 Airbox lowers average intake temperatures by almost 10°F compared to the SRI alone. Although our testing was more stringent than typical driving conditions, it highlights the Air Box’s capability to minimize heat soak during extended idling in hot weather. This results in cooler intake temperatures and improved power output, even under challenging conditions.

OEM Fitment:

Designed for the Mazda CX-50, the CorkSport Airbox ensures a perfect OEM fit. Installation is straightforward and hassle-free, utilizing the original rubber isolators and mounting points. This design allows the Airbox to move with the engine, maintaining optimal performance. Additionally, the OEM Air Scoop is retained, providing multiple intake draw points for enhanced airflow and cooler intake temperatures. This results in improved power output and efficiency, even in demanding conditions.

Serviceable Design:

Servicing the air filter is quick and easy. Simply remove the acrylic cover to access the filter and MAF housing.

Materials and Design:

The CorkSport SRI Airbox for the Mazda CX-50 is meticulously crafted from durable Rotomolded 5mm (0.190”) thick XDPE Plastic, the same robust material used in our Auxiliary Fuel Tank for the Mazdaspeed3 and the Turbo Inlet Pipe for the 2021+ Mazda 3 Turbo. This high-quality material is designed to withstand harsh elements and high temperatures. The cover lid is made of Acrylic, known for its high-temperature resistance and its ability to add a sleek, shiny finish to your engine bay. This combination of materials ensures the Airbox not only enhances performance but also adds a touch of style to your Mazda CX-50 when you pop the hood.
