Fitment Focused:

The CorkSport SRI & TIP system is engineered to be the most comprehensive upgrade for your Turbo Mazda CX-5, designed to fit seamlessly with OEM components, including the battery tray. One of the main challenges was accommodating the large 3-inch cross-sectional area of the CS turbo inlet pipe within the factory setup. The battery tie-down, which protrudes into the path of the OEM turbo inlet pipe, further restricts airflow.

To fit the larger 3-inch cross-sectional area of the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe, we increased the internal height of the TIP and added an indentation for the battery tie-down. This ensures sufficient clearance when the engine moves under load. These modifications allow for the installation of the larger pipe without needing to switch to a different battery setup.

Precision MAF Housing:

Enhancing efficiency is crucial for maximizing power, and all incoming air must pass through the intake system. However, increased airflow alone isn't enough; precision is essential. That's why CorkSport exclusively uses precision CNC-machined aluminum MAF (Mass AirFlow) housings for the MAF sensor. This sensor must accurately measure the air entering the engine to ensure safe operation.

Design Logic:

CorkSport has innovated beyond the basic crushed 2.5inch metal pipe that other brands use. Leveraging extensive experience and advanced technology, CorkSport developed a turbo inlet pipe that maintains a continuous 3-inch cross-sectional area. This design results in a 64% increase in cross-sectional area compared to a standard 2.5-inch metal pipe, significantly enhancing airflow and performance of the CX-5.

Smooth Flow:

Achieving maximum flow potential in the CX-5 turbo inlet pipe and short ram intake system requires smooth, non-turbulent airflow. Every design detail must be meticulously planned and purposeful. CorkSport takes this to heart, especially in the design of their TIP silicone couplers. Even the transition between the silicone coupler and the turbo inlet pipe is carefully crafted. The step in the silicone helps smooth the airflow as it enters the TIP, reducing turbulence and maximizing flow efficiency.

Dual Element Air Filter:

A high-flow dry-element air filter with a dual-element design is used to enhance airflow while ensuring superior filtration. This dual-element feature increases the total filter area without needing a larger filter size, leading to better filtration performance and increased airflow.

Testing & Validation:

Thousands of street and dyno miles completed on various the various models Mazda 6, CX-5, and CX-9.

With the limited tuning abilities currently available, we are being limited by the ECU load limits and controls. However, we are seeing faster response and turbo spool, which shows the improvements in flow. This will be updated as tuning becomes more available.

Rotomolding Technology:

Roto-molding manufacturing methods are becoming more and more common in the engine bay for good reason. This process allows us to create complex and unique shapes which is key to maximizing the available space between the engine and battery. While this does cost a lot more to develop initially, the final product delivers much better results which was our #1 goal for the community.

Hardware:

The CorkSport Short Ram Intake & Turbo Inlet Pipe system includes all the necessary hardware for a quick and easy installation. This hardware comprises an aluminum MAF bracket, a stainless steel TIP mounting bracket, and stainless steel T-bolt clamps. Additionally, step-by-step color instructions are provided for all models equipped with the SkyActiv-G 2.5L Turbo Engine, ensuring a smooth installation process.

Color Options:

The front main silicone is available in Red, Blue, or Black, allowing you to match your preference.
