The 2017+ Mazda CX-5 is Mazda’s most successful and popular vehicle in North America; with its functionality, stylish body lines and the recent addition of a turbocharged 2.5L SkyActiv engine. However, we think the CX-5 sits just a bit too high…

The team at CorkSport Mazda Performance has a solution with the Sport Lowering Springs for the 2017+ Mazda CX5. The lowering springs were designed with the practical enthusiast in mind by providing a functional and comfortable ride with a 2.1 inch Front & Rear Drop. Spring rates were increased 17% & 32% over OE, respectively. #ZoomZoom!

The CorkSport Advantage

2018+ Cx5 AWD Lowering Springs

Performance Handling:

The CorkSport lowering springs improve your Mazda CX-5’s stability by lowering its center of gravity and stiffening the suspension. This reduces body roll which gives you confidence to enjoy everything from the daily commute to the back country roads.

Cx5 Signature Lowering Spring Kit

Style & Comfort:

Get rid of that fender well gap with an aggressive and functional 2.1 inch drop in the front & rear. We accomplished the new lower height without compromising daily driving comfort and maintained the factory setup “rake” so the CX-5 will sit level with extra passengers and/or cargo. While it may sound like a lot, the 17% stiffer front springs and 32% stiffer rear springs ride great and fit well with the OEM dampening, while providing more feedback to the driver for extra confidence and control at the lower ride height.

Cx5 Low Down Spring Suspension

Design, Testing, & Validation:

We tested a number of spring rates and lowering heights to determine the best suspension setup for your Mazda CX-5 2.5T. Pairing this with an optimized natural frequency of the suspension with the different setups optimize ride quality and handling. The final setup of 3.4K front springs and 7.0K rear springs are fantastic whether you just want the look or are all about handling.

Fitment & Usability:

As with all CS lowering springs, these are an easy install directly onto the OEM suspension components. The only modification is trimming the bump stops to make up for the decreased suspension travel. With the factory ride height being so high (being an SUV) the CS drop in ride height still keeps your bumper safe from driveways and ensures your OEM shocks and struts are well within their operable length. You may notice a slight rake to the ride height. This is to ensure the car sits level and not too low, even when loaded with 5 adults and weight in the trunk!

Materials & Manufacturing:

The springs are manufactured from high tensile strength spring steel and come with pre-installed spring isolators to eliminate any unwanted suspension noise. Together this ensures long lasting quality and consistent performance. In addition, the springs have our new “CS” blue powdercoating to ensure durability and rust protection.

  • • Springs were designed for the CX-5 equipped with the 2.5L turbocharged engine and AWD drivetrain. Non-turbocharged and FWD models have not been confirmed, but are expected to fit and function correctly at a slightly higher ride height.

How to install 2017-2021 Mazda CX-5 Lowering springs

Installed on 22 Signature. Wish I had done it when I did the exhaust and intake. Makes a huge difference in body roll and sail boating. Alignment is necessary after the install, no camber kit was needed.
What bilstein struts can go with these new springs, what model and number ? Do they need any modification ?
2022 CX-5 Turbo AWD. Installed these this weekend. Handling is noticeably better. Still a great comfy ride too. Takes corners at speed the way it should.
Couple of points. Took me 7 hours from the time I laid out my tools until I was test-driving the car - I am fairly experienced but don't have a lift or fancy spring compressor. Used a 3 ton floor jack for all lifting. The allen/hex wrench for the front spring Top Hat is 7mm on my car, not 6mm. Standard box wrenches don't work, need deep angled ones. Also, spring compressors require a very specific location for the bolts to attach to make sure they clear the spring assy. One will have to thread through the hole on the bottom plate of the strut assembly to allow sufficient compression. For the rear shocks, I gave up on trying to remove the shock assy from the top mount and just carefully cut the bump stop away from the piston without scratching it. Far easier than the instructions as written, but possibility of scratching shock pistons if you're not extremely careful. To remove the plastic dust shield I put the shock upside down on a piece of wood, stood on the flanges on the shock top, and pulled HARD. To replace the dust shield I used two long wood clamps to hold the dust cover in place and very carefully used a flat screw driver to push the bump stop back into the dust cover as I gently increased the clamping pressure - worked very easily. Overall the instructions are excellent and my comments are just how I resolved minor issues a project like this will bring up. Another great product from CS!
I didn't really want to lower the
My CX-5, but these worries were squashed immediately. Better look and the exact same comfy ride.
Installed on a 2021 signature. Looks great and performs even better.
Installed these springs in my 2021 Carbon Edition Turbo FWD. The little Ute feels entirely different. More responsive, and definitely confidence inspiring!

Rear sits a little higher, but I imagine that's due to the lack of rear differential weight.

Thanks Corksport for a week engineered product and great installation instructions!
My 2020 cx-5 touring w/o awd and turbo sat awesome… the ride quality did not change at all I do feel more confident taking turns with reduced body roll. Great product and service a must for any CX5 that wants to get rid of that wheel gap.
The ride is much more responsive and focused. The look is much more sophisticated. The installation was not very difficult. I have to admit that I was disappointed with Mazda's stock suspension setup. The class leading CX-5 has been the "fun to drive" sport ute as written and reviewed for several years, but I was left feeling a bit top heavy. This kit fixed it all. Excited to pick out my next bolt on from CS!
