The CorkSport Oil Catch Can kit prevents fuel, oil, and water vapors from entering your engine. While the SkyActiv engines have a factory air/oil separator before the PCV, it does a poor job at preventing contaminants from entering your intake manifold, gumming up your intake valves, and causing poor combustion. If you want to keep the SkyActiv 2.5T in your Mazda 6, CX5, and CX9 healthy read on for full details.
The CorkSport Oil Catch Can receives input from the PCV valve and the valve cover breather. These two sources typically send oil, fuel, and water vapors from inside your engine’s crankcase back into the combustion chamber, causing less than optimal combustion and over time, dirty intake valves. The CS OCC catches these vapors to keep your engine clean and healthy.
The CS OCC is a dual chamber design that uses a baffle to separate the inlet and outlet ports. The inlet is tangent to the inside edge of the OCC. This promotes spinning/swirling of the incoming vapors and contaminants, causing them to condense on the walls of the OCC and settle to the bottom for drainage. The clean air then travels through the center of the baffle and out of the catch can.
Oil catch cans are especially important on turbocharged and/or direct injected vehicles to ensure long-term engine health, and even more so if your vehicle is modified. While there is a factory air/oil separator, it does not function that well in our experience. Check out all the contaminants our OCC caught on our Mazda 6 2.5T during the first 500 miles or so after install. Typically, all of this would have entered your engine which over time adversely affects engine health.
The CorkSport OCC kit was designed specifically to fit the vehicles equipped with the SkyActiv 2.5T. Not only was the stainless bracket designed specifically for this Mazda chassis, it is in a location chosen to be easy to access and empty during an oil change. Plus, the location in front of the driver’s side wheel ensures short routing for all OCC lines. This means an easier install and less distance for contaminants to travel before being trapped in the OCC.
The CS oil catch can body, dipstick, and ports are precision machined out of 6061-T6 billet aluminum. Each is then anodized for corrosion resistance and for a classy look. The supplied mounting bracket is laser cut and precision formed 304 stainless steel; again for superior corrosion resistance. Finally, the supplied OCC hoses are made from reinforced silicone for great resistance to heat, oil, fuel, and the elements so your catch can setup lasts as long as your 2.5T!
It will take you 2 hours to install the CorkSport Mazda6 Turbo Oil Catch Can with our easy-to-use instructions.

Will this fit a 2023/24 CX-5 GT Sp Australian spec car with the 2.5L Turbo engine Right hand drive? is it still mounted on the left side of the engine bay?
We've not tested it on an Australian version of the CX-5. However, we've seen that in Australian-spec cars, a black monitoring box resides in the same location as our oil catch can would otherwise. To know whether this would fit, we would need to see underneath the left side of the vehicle's splash guard.
Will the bracket in this ATK-6-889-11 kit (for the 2018+ CX-5 Turbo) also fit on the frame of a 2023 CX-5 non-turbo? Or, do you need to create a different bracket for the 2023 CX-5 non-turbo?
This is specific to the turbo variant and has not been test fit to the NA version. The bracket may mount in the same or similar location without modification, but we can't confirm that.
I am looking at fitting one of these to my 2023 CX5. Is a check valve required to minimise the risk of the OCC becoming pressurised? Thank you.
No, this kit can be installed as is.
What is the process of emptying the catch can? Will the skid tray have to be removed? Does this change with the metal skid plate installed?
If the catch can is installed on the outer side of the frame rail as instructed, you can access it from the splash guard in the wheel well. It is outside of the metal skid plate area.
will it fit 2022 cx-5 turbo, and the install location will be the same as Mazda 6?
Check the instructions link, it shows the mount location for the CX-5, in front of the drivers side wheel.
Will this fit a 2019 CX-5 2.5L NON-TURBO?
It may need to be installed differently than shown in the instructions, but you can make it work.
Hi, Would this work with Mazda 3 with 2.5T?
It will fit, but some aspects of the install may be different. We are currently working on a kit specific to the 4th gen turbo model.
Does this kit fit the 2.5 NA models?
An oil catch can can be installed with any motor. Just ensure the lines are hooked up so that it works as designed. The mount location may need to be different than instructed.
Will this fit a 2018 CX-9 with no issues?
The CX-9 Needed a different bracket compared to the 6 and CX-5. We are currently working on this.
