how to install a mazdaspeed 3 4 inch intake

This. Is. OHMYGOD!
It's FINALLY breathing now! There's no scale to compare, buy it - I haven't had any issues on a GEN 1. I've only removed the brackets, and moved the ECU in the front. The battery no longer has a front cover, BUT, I'll get their battery box, so it won't be a problem.

Definitely recommend this - pair it with their EBCS, and the HPFP + rebuild kit, and you'll be on the good road!
You will definitely see power gains when using this intake on a stock turbo. It definitely improved sound as well. Install was a little tricky, the fitment is tight. Not a lot of room where the turbo inlet is located, the cooling lines near the firewall on a gen 1 speed 3 kind of interfered with the turbo inlet pipe. With some persuasion it can fit. The factory 10mm stud that attaches the turbo inlet pipe to the bracket provided some issues. I had to loosen the bracket completely to install it to the turbo inlet pipe, then reattached the bracket to the engine.

I went with this intake since I do have plans on switching turbos to the CST5. And this intake will support that.
Had to purchase this intake after another company’s 4 inch required a battery relocate even with a 51R tray. This intake fits with plenty of room to spare and looks great! Wasn’t able to get the color I wanted due to material shortages and me not being able to wait but the true 3.5 inch ID MAF housing and 4 inch OD made up for that. The filter from the 4 inch intake fit just as well as the one supplied by Corksport for the 3.5 inch!
Ok, I will start with this, as it is the most important point..

Even with a K04 you WILL see gains from this intake over just a 3" or smaller. Check out my datalogs and Vdynos on MSF with JUST this SRI/TIP and a Corksport TMIC. I am hitting 250-260 WHP at 5600 to peaking @ 6k rpm consistently, and about 250-260 WTQ in the late 3k rpm range, it has literally balanced out my HP/TQ numbers beautifully, and brought the peak power smoothly up the RPM. This is all with a OTS Cobb Stage 1 +IC 91 flash tune (with a 3.5 MAF calibration of course) untouched by a real tuner. It's clear that even a stock turbo will benefit from this sized intake, and then you are always ready if you ever happen to go to a bigger turbo.

I still have the 80mm CS catless TBE exhaust to install, and I should see even more gains and a bump in TQ/HP ratio.

Another big reason I went with all CS power/flow adding parts is because they were R&Ded together, which usually means a slight benefit from running all the same intake/IC/exhaust parts.

I thought I'd share, check out my build thread on MSF for a walkthru install soon. Feel free to ask me any questions about the product or install.

Definitely spend the $ for a ECU relocation BBox from CS (or at least plan on relocating your ECU somehow) when you go for this SRI. Install them both at the same time to speed up the process.

You might want a heater hose extension kit to make this fit easily down by the turbo/TIP coupler. I was able to get mine to fit with some silicone spray. You can buy your own HH ext kit for like 6-10 bucks at any parts store.

I love it. I think a pro tuner could easily tune another 10hp and about the same in TQ. At the wheels, compared to most stock MS3 Vdynos I made about 45 WHP and a little less WTQ, but each upgrade route is a little different, my TQ will come back with the catless TBE.

And it sounds FANTASTIC.
Great intake for a big turbo! no ecu or battery box relocation. very very tight fit thought.

I have seen this question asked before with different answers. In the MS6 Power Series II Iin FAQ it says the 3.5” intake that fits MS6 is this one. In this FAQ they send MS6 owners to the Power Series II. Which is correct?

What is the difference between (Axl-6-118-13110) Stage II Short Ram and (AXL-6-289-83110) Power Series 3.5" Intake. I own a Mazdaspeed6 and was looking into getting one of these but was not sure on the differences between them and which one would be a better choice for my speed6

I’m currently running the stage ll intake. If I were to get this intake and do the maf calibration. Would I need to get it tuned or would I be able to drive the car around with the intake installed. I’m also customed tuned right now.
