how to install Mazdaspeed 3 high pressure fuel pump internals

New features

Manufacturer:
CorkSport
I too had my TMIC off during the installation (like Matt G.), and getting to everything was super easy. This was the installation that I worried about the most. But with CS's super instructions and the installation video, this installation was a piece of cake. I installed the CS DP during the same install, and with the 20% increase in fuel flow pressure...I am not worried about running out of fuel at WOT!
I have ordered a few parts from Corksport already for my car. When it came time to get the fuel pump internals i didnt think to go anywhere else. Came here right away. They make a great product!!!! Cant wait to get them in and get going.
Can you put this on a 2013 Mazda 3 Skyactiv? And what would happened if you do?

Check out the FAQ tab for this part for an answer.
Changing pump internals was pretty uneventful due to good documentation and kitted parts. Hardest part was getting to the pump which just requires some time and tinkering. My stock pump held up pretty well with stage 1 mods but looking forward to stage 2 mods while holding steady at 1670 psi. I've accumulated about 1K miles on the mod and it's running perfect.
This item came very well presented. Instruction for install was very thorough and installation was a piece of cake.

Only recommendation is to remove the injector fuse and run the car till it shuts down itself before install. This way you won't have any pressure built up in the high pressure line and will not get sprayed with fuel.

After installation, the difference can be noticed straight away. Much smoother run and maintains plenty of consistent pressure.

Very happy with this product! A must have for all MS3! As always, a quality product from Corksport! Thanks!
Wow! I almost didn't want to take it out of the cool-looking black box, but here's my review...

Shipping and Packaging: A+

Shipping was fast as usual with, and I had this sweet setup in my hands within a couple days from ordering (figure VC to Chicago where I'm at). The shipment packaging was as expected: the cool box containing the good was wrapped in bubble tape and then nested in ruffled brown paper. That aside... holy crap that little black metal box containing the goods made me feel like I was opening up something out of National Treasure! CorkSport really didn't have to go to these lengths, but they did.

Quality: A+

Again with the great presentation. The internals come in a beautiful black metal box, components are stamped with serial numbers and vacuum sealed in plastic, it comes with a higher-grade spring, AND installation tools. Oh, and CS was nice enough to include an 8Gb flash stick with the instructions. You can then use the flash stick for anything! This beats the hell out of competitors on so many levels.

Installation Difficulty: 4 out of 10

This isn't really a hard install, but you MUST take your time! I was sweating this install for quite some time, but the CS instructions (I have some suggestions) and YouTube videos showing the step-by-step install made it a breeze. Take your sweet time, and seriously clean your hands when dealing with the actual internals. DO NOT force the internals piston into place. If the fitting is rigid and sticks, lube it with more clean oil. DO NOT force the HPFP assembly back into its seat! You might find that the lower line catches it. You will need to push it down so that you can properly jiggle the assembly into place. I had to take the assembly out because of the lower line pushing up against the assembly. You need to keep on playing with it.

NOTE: I did remove the TMIC for the installation. It seems like it really isn't needed (shroud only), but I did, and found that it gave more access to the HPFP assembly. You don't need to remove the battery.

Performance:

You should really own an Cobb AP, in my opinion. I logged the HPFP before and after the internals installation. The peak on stock internals was 1720 psi at WOT, while CorkSport internals created 2098 psi on the same tune selection.

RECOMMENDATION to CorkSport:

Please add instructions to pull the electrical fuel pump fuse to relieve pressure. Pull the LPFP relay, turn the car on, and then it idle until it dies. There is no need for pressure sprays of gasoline all over the engine. I did this for the installation, and it worked.
Hey guys just a quick note to say the Max Flow Pump Internals were fantastic. Installed over the weekend, instructions were precise the only difficult part was the high pressure line and pushing the pump back against the spring. But this is largely due to my poor mechanical skills.

Purchased via Jase from New Zealand :)
As some others have stated the packaging had me in awe after I openend the box. The quality seems top notch and went in easy as pie! Holding 1800-1900 PSI on stage 2 with no issues so far. As a side note, the tappet came pre installed so you can skip that step!
Have had these and the racepipe installed now for couple weeks and I love them no complaints 2000 wot psi levels and 1800 steady flow no problem. downpipe going in today.
The packaging of this product blew my mind, no other company provides this level of craftsmanship combined with the feeling of purchasing an exclusive product. The white paper sold me on this product and i am happy i purchased. I hit psi levels over 2000 at WOT, but more importantly it is flowing more volume than stock. Install was easy and the pump makes less noise than the stock one. You do not need to be a master mechanic to do this job yourself.

I installed this on my 11 Mazdaspeed3 and for some reason the car goes now rich, STFT is always -7 to -12.50, Replaced Maf, inspected MAf wiring, claps, TB gasket replaced, replaced TMIC with CS TMIC, stock intake/Inlet tried Silicone Inlet+ Custom Intake. When i removed and installed the OEM one values were back to normal, does this need any kind of tune?

Just purchased a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 with 135,000 miles on it. The car came with a Cobb SRI, but everything else is stock. The next step is to install high pressure fuel pump internals. Will replacing the internals on a high mileage car be fine with the existing fuel pump or should I replace the whole fuel pump and place the high flow internals in a new high pressure fuel pump?

My HPFP makes a loud clicking at the lightest touch of throttle between 2000-3000rpm. I've had CS internals in the hpfp for about 4 years. I replaced the fuel relief valve and even put in new CS HPFP internals and the problem persists. Does anyone on your team know the issue I'm experiencing and how to resolve it?

Hello, I installed the corksport internal in a brand new hitachi pump in my gti mk5 fsi engine 2008. The stock pump works perfectly fine, however with the corksport internals the car would have difficulty to start, like if the pump is not primed, and when the car does start the ecu throw the code p2293 Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance code, and the car appears to be a limp mode. No boost no power. Apparently the car is experiencing fuel starvation. When I put back the stock internal in the pump, everything is normal. Any suggestion? Should I try with the stock spring?
