CorkSport Mazda3 Power Series Short Ram Intake.

If you want a simple modification that increases your power, and can improve gas mileage; the CorkSport Mazda3 SRI is for you. With quick installation, this plug and play piece is a great way to start getting more power out of your Mazda 3.

One of the easiest and most beneficial performance enhancements you can do for your vehicle, the CorkSport Mazda3 Power Series Short Ram Intake replaces your factory airbox with an open intake system allowing more air into the intake chamber. Engineered with exacting tolerances, the CorkSport SkyActiv SRI includes our precision machined MAF housing made from billet aluminum, a durable dry flow air filter and custom reinforced silicone connector. In initial testing with the 2.0 Liter SkyActiv engine, the Mazda 3 CorkSport Short Ram Intake netted peak gains of +5 HP and +6 lb torque at the wheels.

The CorkSport Advantage:

  • Designed Specifically for SkyActiv Gasoline Engines*: CorkSport has developed a Mazda3 power series intake that will perform with the all-new SkyActiv engines
  • Avoid Unwanted Check-Engine Lights: The MAF housing is precision machined from billet aluminum to prevent air leaks and inaccurate readings.
  • Improve Power: Initial testing showed peak gains of +5 HP and +6 lb torque at the wheels with the 2.0L and 10hp
  • Durable Dry Flow Air Filter: Reusable and water resistant, this unique non-woven filter media does not require oil to filter and trap dirt and actually sheds dirt under engine vibration unlike cotton-gauze which holds contaminates until you clean the filter
  • Custom Reinforced Silicone Connector: Constructed from multi-layer nylon braid to provide more strength and power and a smooth internal transition for less turbulence and optimal flow
  • CorkSport Service and Support: Receive a 2-year warranty, full color installation instructions, all of the needed installation hardware, and knowledgeable telephone installation support

*Made for gasoline engines only. Will not work on diesel engines. With the CorkSport Intake installed on the SkyActiv engine, at higher RPM's you may hear a slight ticking from the opening and closing of the injectors. This is completely normal and is what helps increase torque and fuel economy.

Mazda CX-5 Short Ram Intake FAQ and Install Instructions

Bought it. Installed it 40 minutes. Nobody else can notice the difference but the driver sure can. Great mod and very beneficial for your car. If you have any issues with the MAF it is because you obviously didn't install correctly. I don't and haven't had any issues and I'm an amateur!
I have a 2015 Mazda 3 6 speed manual and love my car! However for how zippy the car can be it was very quiet. I wanted the car to sound how it feels driving it and the Short Ram Intake is exactly what I was missing!!!
especially in 2nd gear and up the car sounds a lot more throaty and is nothing but pure fun! I am going to get the Axle Back in a few months to seal the sound deal.
Not a bad product. Looks great. Easy to install with the included instructions.

After taking out the stock resonator it adds a little nice throaty sound to the engine. Power gains not super noticeable. Mazda is about feel however, and it does feel a little more sporty.

It's kinda like when you were a kid and you could play with basic fire works unsupervised. It's fun and gives you a cheap smile but it's nothing dangerous.

Gas mileage (w/ manual) from daily driving has gone from 34mpg to 34.5mpg over one month. (According to the dash)
Quite literally the most fun I've had in YEARS doing a modification! I installed my short ram intake kit on a 2014 Mazda 3i Sport, automatic. Wanted a better intake sound to feed my ailing hotrod ego. BINGO! A forty-five minute installation just being lazy and taking my time. Easy to install, beautiful workmanship on the parts, and the cheap standard shipping was just three days! I simply could not be happier or more satisfied. LOVE THE SOUND!
First ever purchase from CorkSport and I couldn't be happier. During the installation, I was able to refer to the highly detailed instructions that they provided and never have I ever been more confident while working with a modification on my car. 10/10 highly recommend to anyone
Super easy to install, and it looks great. Can definitely hear a difference and getting rid of the monstrous amount of OEM airbox plastic was a nice plus.

10/10 would buy again.
I am really happy with my short ram intake! After selling my fully bolted Speed6 and buying my 2014 Mazda3, I missed the sound of my old car. Sure, I wasn't going to be able to get anywhere near the same power out of my Mazda3, but it's nice to roll down the window on a twisty road and hear the intake snarl.

I got Corksport's air box to go along with the intake to feed fresh outside air to my engine and protect the filter from salt and grime, and I can still hear the engine well. One thing to note is you may hear a "gurgling" sound the odd time after installing the intake, but this is normal and not a sign of a problem.

I highly recommend getting a spare filter to quicken filter swaps, and i plan on getting a K&N Drycharger to prevent rain or road spray from getting to the filter.
I wasn't expecting such a noticeable difference in sound, throttle response is great too.
Extremely easy to install. I love the sound from under the hood now it really compliments the CS axel back exhaust on the hatchback. I haven't had any problems with hot engine air causing any problems and I live in Tennessee and it's summer.
Works great, still fits with leaving bottom of the OEM intake in for a cold air source and doubles as a water shield to keep it dry. Easy Install, Really lets you hear the headers over OEM!
(I' posting my question here since for some reason, I can post it in the FAQ)

I've had your intake installed for about a couple of months now and it did indeed throw my CEL. I tried to just regularly clear the error codes but it came on again in a couple of days.

I took my Mazda in to a professional shop and they tried to diagnose the problem and reset/clear the error codes and it still came back on after another few days.

Apparently the error codes I am receiving are P0101 and P0172 BANK 1 for the circuit/range performance being out of sync and causing my engine to run too rich. (It was bogging or stalling a little in low gears)

They suggested to reinstall the OEM intake to see if the ECU would remain cleared and the light to stay off and it actually worked.

I'm just wondering if you heard of this happening before?
Just installed the short ram intake big difference to power and throttle response.
Fantastic, easy install, noticeable power increase, and great sound. Oh and the throttle response is way better. I will definitely be getting more parts from Corksport for my Mazda.

I typically never leave reviews because usually its not worth the effort. It is well worth the effort this time.
I had a CS SRI but I ended up swapping it out with another manufacturer before I tuned my Mazda 3. There are some flaws with the design that can cause trouble with the MAF.

Also I think a heat shield or box should be available for the SRI.
Not quite a aggressive-sounding as another Short Ram Intake I tried, but this CorkSport Short Ram Intake does have the added benefit of no check engine light. I have had it on for a thousand miles so far and everything is still working great!
Just got mine and am going to install this week. Curious if anybody recommends/uses a waterproof pre-filter with their intake? Should I be concerned about hydrolock in heavy rain? Any product recommendations for use with this filter?
Does this work on the 2015 mazda3 skyactiv or is their an updated one coming out?
I've been a CorkSport freak and power spender since my '09 Speed3. I've purchased the CS Downpipe, Full Exhaust, Inlet + Intake, and shifter kit. I now have a '14 Mazda3 and my first mod, and probably my only mod, of course, was the Intake. Yes it has the intake sound which is nice and yes, the 3 or 4 HP gain is ok... but best of all for me is the +4 mpg gain on the freeway. My commute from West Salem to Wilsonville is obviously all freeway. SO... After installing the intake, my avg. MPH combined went from 29.1 to 33.5. Killer Gains for me! And as always, CorkSport's R&D team nailed it! Thank you to the CS Team as always! I'm ready for the next gen Speed3 :)
My girlfriend and I are getting into cars. So this is our first car project. The shipping was pretty fast. Came in a couple of days. Installed it today. It took us a few hours because the o-ring thread broke off. We tried to make do but it didn't work out. Instead we went to oreily and bought a 32x1 bolt and it sized up perfectly. Tested the car looking for a check engine sign. None. Revved the car and it sounded superb. I went for a test ride while my lady made lunch. I could feel the horsepower gain. But love the sounds. Mahalo Corksport. From Hawaii
I love it!! The sound that come from it is great and my car is differently quicker and if you drive nice and don't go speeding around and launching at every street light and stop sign like in all cars you will and I did notice a great increase in my mpg but it is very hard to drive nice with the noise the SRI makes when you put your foot down on the gas
Is this SRI C.A.R.B. legal for Cali?
Very easy to install, worked as advertised (rare these days). Definitely noticed a slight increase in the throttle response and the sound makes me grin like an idiot (which could explain the weird looks). Just ordered the cold air box to go with the SRI and exhaust is next on lists.
Question, wondering if this will work with the 2.5L skyactive motors on the 2014?
If i order it myself and make the installation with my Mazda dealer on my 2014 Mazda 3 GS, will it void my warranty?
Hi Corksport, im very interested in buying this for my 2014 GS but I was also wondering, will it affect my car warranty if I install it? I know this is a Mazda mod Specialty website but just making sure! :) thanks!
does the short ram intake work on canadian mazda 3 cars
hey from canada just purchased the 2014 mazda 3 sedan just was wondering does the ram intake work with are system over here
Do it work with the 2.5L engine?
does this work for a 2013 mazda 3 sky active hatchback? or only 2014

CorkSport Reply:This listing is for the 2014+ models. Check out 2010-2013 section for your correct intake that we offer.
Just installed today, took about 15 minutes to install. Throttle response much better, and pulls harder. Excellent Product !!!!!!
I just drove 70 miles up to Washington today to pick up the CorkSport Intake for my CX-5. At first, I was hesitant to really get it. But I went ahead and got it after considering... "I just drove up here, why go home empty handed..." Drove home and started the process of installing. I finished about 15 minutes later and it was a success! No error codes no nothing. Tell you what, I OPENED up my throttle from 0-70mph, and I was EXTREMELY impressed. You def. HEAR the difference and FEEL the difference! Thank you CorkSport!!!
Still waiting to see improve gas mileage? from what i see now it is a little less MPG.

Definitely feel more power and even more using trip-tonic shifter fun to drive.
Super quick install, love the ability of customize all of the components for the intake. Well manufactured and quality item, what I've come to expect. The car pulls much harder than before and looks great!
Just purchased this item, the car's check engine light came on. So dont know would have to get that check now
Anyone have any real world feed back on what affect this has on MPG?

>>CorkSport Reply
i was just wondering if you guys noticed any changes to your MPG after this SRi mod.
Great product! It sounds great and you can feel the horse power gain, but for some reason I did not get my points when i bought the product :(
First engine mod I've ever done, went well easy to install. Very good product. Throttle response much better it sounds sweet and there's a little more pull in the higher rpms. Can't wait to order the exhaust
the install was easier than I thought. It looks amazing, my car feels great, and its hard not to step on the gas so you can hear it :)
Install was easy and the results were great. First mod I've done and I enjoy the subtle roar my car makes now, as well as the power gain. Wonderful product!
Great product! One of the best SRI's I've ever used. Noticeable gains with this as my only performance mod to date and the sound is amazing! I went with everything black and the MAF color as red and it looks really good! Great job CorkSport!
Fantastic product! Super easy install, looks, performs and sounds great. If I had to be picky I would have liked the silicone to be the same shade of red as the other two components, but its such a minor detail. Definitely a quality product.
It was easy to install and you can feel the difference. I love it and its a great addition!

Hello guys, I just wanted to know if you need to "oil" the intake with any specific product when proceeding to the maintenance, or simply clean it with water and an intake cleaner. Thanks ;)

I've had this for quite a while now and the growling sound during the winter months really had me smiling everyday but now that the sun is out I started to smell burning rubber around the engine. Same goes when I drive at night. I've isolated the smell and it seems to be coming from the rubber part of the SRI. Anyone has this problem?

I am concerned about the heat buildup under the hood as I live in Phoenix and summer temps can hit 110+ easily! Engine breathing hotter air actually lowers horepower and efficiency.. Would you still recommend this product.
