The Stage 2 CorkSport 13” Big Brake Kit for Mazdaspeed 6

Improves upon each component in the front braking system to provide a drastic increase in braking performance. From the larger and thicker 13” rotors to the stainless steel brake lines, each component was specifically chosen to help you stop better.

Everything you need to install the kit is included, even down to brackets to secure your new stainless brake lines. If you’re making big power and/or just want something more than the CS Big Brake Caliper kit, the CorkSport Stage 2 13” BBK is for you. Check out the full details below.

Mazdaspeed 6 Big Brake Kit

The CorkSport Advantage

Mazdaspeed 6 Big Brake Kit

Performance Advantage

All components in this kit were chosen for their positive impact to one or more of the three characteristics that define braking performance: heat, weight, and force. Each component is an improvement on its own, but together they truly combine to offer drastically improved braking performance for your MS6. These brakes make slowing down after a WOT pull almost as much fun as the pull itself!

Upgraded Rotors

Lots of thought has gone into making the 13inch (330mm) brake rotors perform the best they can for both street and track use. Aside from looking great, the larger diameter allows for a larger braking torque from the same braking force (like how a longer wrench makes it easier to loosen a bolt).

The larger diameter coupled with an upgrade to 28mm thick also means there is more mass to reject heat into, keeping your brakes from overheating longer. Heat is also easier to dissipate due to directional vanes in the rotor rings. These help to suck extra air through the rotors for better cooling. The CorkSport 13ā€ rotors use a two-piece design with an aluminum rotor hat for weight savings and again better cooling. Finally, they are directionally slotted to help sweep dirt, gases, brake dust, and other debris away from the rotor/pad interface to keep your braking characteristics consistent.

Four-Piston Calipers

The forged aluminum calipers included with the Stage 2 CorkSport BBK are 4 piston units that are even larger than the CorkSport Big Brake Caliper Kit. While each piston is smaller than the large single piston OE caliper, the total surface area is larger, providing more braking force from the same amount of braking pressure. There are a few other advantages by using two pistons on each side of the caliper: maximized pad size and even braking pressure on each side of the rotor.

Even pad wear is further encouraged by having staggered piston sizes. Another consideration was heat – we made the pistons out of stainless steel due to its lower conductive heat transfer than aluminum or regular steel. Fancy vocab aside, this means less heat going into your brake fluid, keeping you out on the track longer.

Hardware, Brackets, and Lines

The CorkSport 13” BBK includes larger and more aggressive brake pads to go with the improved calipers and rotors. They fill the gap nicely between a street pad and a full-blown track pad, so you have good performance cold, and even better performance when warm while not having to worry about a ton of noise or dust when on the street. When it comes time to replace pads, don't worry, the CS brake pads are a common size so you'll have plenty of options to choose from.

Performance Brake Pads

But wait there’s more! Along with the large component improvements, each CorkSport Stage 2 13” BBK comes with upgraded lines, brackets, and hardware. High strength billet steel caliper brackets hold everything in the correct location while braided stainless steel brake lines keep your pedal firm at all times. Hardware is all corrosion resistant grade 12.9 bolt to make sure your brakes arenā€™t going anywhere. The use of a wheel spacer is required for OE wheels and some aftermarket wheels.

Rear Only BBK has a unique wheel fitment template, refer to that template for checking rear wheels.

Brake Pad Cross Reference

The following brake pads series may operate with the CorkSport 13” BBK. Other brake pad manufacturers may have pads design for this configuration that is not listed here.

With my many power mods I knew that brakes had to be on my list. I shopped around alot since there are many "name brand" options for a BBK, but I kept coming back to the CorkSport BBK. The price point is fantastic (almost $1000 less than some options), the execution and quality is great and it was a complete kit from brake line to brake pad. Install was straight forward following the color step by step instructions, they even instruction how to "bed" break in the new rotors and pads so you get the best performance and longevity out of the pads. Now to the performance...well lets just say you better brace for impact because DAMNNNNN these things can really stop the car. I feel soo much more confident driving the car spirited now that I know my brakes will stop me effectively. I honestly wish i would have done this BBK much sooner in my modding path. I highly recommend doing this early on.
These are a great brake kit, with the caveat of wheel clearance. Fortunately, these fit my wheels without spacers. I've got MOTEGI RACING MR133, 45mm offset. If I would have needed spacers, I probably would have just got the calipers kit. But since they do fit with my wheels, I'm glad I got these.
Got these to replace a Brembo BBK and Enkei PF01 wheels that looked stupid (great wheels, just looked small and too "pushed out").

The CS kit *just barely* clears an Enkei PF07, 7.5" 48mm offset with 3mm spacers. Looks so much better.

Stopping power and pedal feel are are insane. Very quiet, too - with only the slightest, mild vibration caused by the slots in the last few seconds of hard braking when coming to a stop.

Another great CS product!
I can finally stop this beast any time any place. It doesn't matter the speed or conditions the brakes just work and work great repeatedly. The ABS works really well with the kit if you go past threshold breaking limits.

Is the caliper from the big brake kit and the Corksport brake caliper upgrade that cost 849 the same or is the bbk larger.
