CorkSport Aluminum Skidplate

We officially released the CorkSport aluminum skid plate today for the 2010+ Mazda 3 and Mazdaspeed 3. We have been testing the part out for several months now on our project Mazdaspeed 3. We even subjected it to the harsh freeways in Los Angeles during a trip to Mazfest back in August this year. You could call the drive an endurance test for the design which is passed with flying colors on the 2120 mile round trip. The aluminum skid plate replaces the rather flimsy plastic stock piece with a .090 inch thick aluminum which has been laser cut to a precise shape and bolts right up to the Mazdaspeed 3. We expanded the original design of the stock skid tray and extended the back of the CorkSport tray to give 4 more attachment points for extra security.
This is actually one of those pieces we hope we never have to test out. It is more like an insurance policy against road debris which can pop up and going through the stock plastic tray and into the oil pan.
