The CorkSport Advantage

Best Mazdaspeed 3 Downpipe

Performance Focused:

The CorkSport V2 Downpipe drastically improves exhaust flow compared to the restrictive OEM downpipe. This results in gains of up to 50whp & wtq on a stock turbo car with an intake, HPFP upgrade, and a tune. Even larger gains could be expected for cars with an upgraded turbo!

Fitment Inspired:

Knowing the installation can be a huge pain when upgrading your downpipe, we aimed to make installation and fitment much easier with the V2 design. The modular design with a separate cast bell mouth and v-band connected pipe section does just that.

With the 2-piece upper and lower sections of the downpipe, all downpipe nuts are now easier to access as you do not have the lower section in the way while tightening. This allowed for easy stud & nut access as well with cutouts designed to fit sockets & wrenches. Lastly, should you ever need to remove the downpipe or turbo for maintenance, the bellmouth portion can stay attached to the turbo! Just disconnect the v-band clamp and remove the lower DP section from the exhaust.

Exhaust Fitment Options:

The CorkSport V2 Downpipe is designed to fit an upgraded 3” or 80mm exhaust for no flow restrictions. If you want a more sleeper build, there is also an option that necks down slightly to work with OEM and 2.5” diameter exhausts.

Both options will require your catback to use the OEM-sized flange with the donut-style connection for an easy installation with your existing pipes. Both sizes are offered only in a catted setup that is for race use only and is not street-legal in areas with emission controls. The cat itself is a high-flow 3-way metallic foil 300cel CAT with a 4-inch outer diameter.

Materials & Manufacturing:

At the turbo side, the CorkSport modular downpipe uses a cast 304 stainless steel bellmouth for strength, reliability & simplicity. The piping uses a CNC machined V-band flange TIG welded to mandrel bent 304 stainless piping. CNC machining ensures a leak-free seal, TIG welds ensure high strength, and mandrel bends ensure smooth exhaust flow.

Hardware and Accessories:

Included with your modular 3” downpipe is everything needed for installation. This includes a stainless v-band clamp for the bellmouth to DP connection, brand new downpipe mounting studs & lock nuts, and even an O2 sensor harness extension.

The thing we’re most proud of is our custom MLS downpipe gasket included with each kit. We port-matched it to the DP bellmouth & CST6 to ensure no flow restrictions whatsoever!

NOTE: if you order the OEM-sized outlet option, we recommend you purchase a new donut gasket, as it is not provided. 3” sized outlets include a new donut gasket to suit the larger pipe diameter.

Installation instructions for the Mazdaspeed 3 Downpipe

I only have one question regarding the downpipe for the speed3, i am planning to go catless so i would need to buy the racepipe separately, but in the options for that it has two options for the stock exhaust flange and the 80mm one. i am also planning on keeping my stock catback so would i have to choose the 65 or 80? i am thinking i would need to choose 65 because i plan to retain the stock cbe but if i choose that would it fit on the downpipe ?

CorkSport Reply:Choose the 65 option. It will work with the CorkSport downpipe or the stock one.
I just installed my cat less down pipe today and what a difference it makes!! As long as you spray your studs and o2 sensors they will come out with ease. Now my corksport full turbo back exhaust is complete and sounds great.
AI have a 2007 Mazdaspeed3 with a CS turbo inlet pipe, Cobb ap tune and catback system, what is the recommended fuel parts to keep the car running smoothly?

CorkSport Reply:Upgrade the high pressure fuel pump internals.
Hey there CS iv got a question and possible alternative to to my problem help me on this if you can offer me some insight or help. Im only really able to buy the dp without the upgraded cat con. So since that's my problem i was looking at the CS race pipe and add a cat to that and purchase it when i can then install, now if I did this would that keep the CEL off? And to shorten this up could y'all give me some information on staying CEL free while i work with in my budget?

I want to do some turbo back mods but Im in California. Are there any downpipes, catted that can be sent or used from corksport that my 13 ms3 can run?

CorkSport Reply:Due to the emissions regulations in California any performance catalyst is deemed illegal so we are not allowed to sell them there.
will this work with my 2007 mazda 3 hatchback? not mazdaspeed 3. Also have aftermarket Borla cat back exhaust

CorkSport Reply:No it will not, it is only for the turbo models.
Beautifully made pipe, much more compact than the stock DP, install was a sinch, removal of stock DP was not as easy as I thought, but it got done.
I have replaced almost my entire exhaust with the corksports catback system and it sounds amazing! the last thing I need is the down pipe but I don't want to run any cats. Do you guys know if the cobb ap will automatically tune out the cel, so I don't have to run the cat? this is probably a question for cobb so if you don't know it's cool. I still am extremely happy with the parts I have bought.

CorkSport Reply:The COBB Ap does not autotune your car. We recommend speaking with a tuner local to you or one of the E-tuners on the forums.
If I ordered this with the exhaust system to go with it and short ram intake, would I need a Tune? If so what can I get away with without having the ECU tuned...Trying to not void warrenty

CorkSport Reply:You will want a HPFP upgrade at a minimum with the installation of a downpipe, a tune is a very good idea too.
This thing looked awesome when I pulled it out of the box. Install wasn't that bad did it on jackstands in my friends basement. Thanks again for an awesome product

On mine (the 80mm catted version), the upper 02 sensor is capped off. Didn’t realize it wasn’t supposed to be until it was already on. Was this just a mistake in mfg. or is there a reason it would be capped off?
