  • how to install a transmission mount insert

I already have the 70d RMM in my 2013 speed, and just decided on throwing in the TMM insert based on the positive feedback i was hearing. I am happy to say it does not disapoint. Install was very straightforward, about 30 minutes or so (make sure you have a nice breaker bar for the one bolt). Torque steer has been reduced slightly, as well as wheel hop. During hard driving, i now notice i can easily shift between 2-3 very smoothly, whereas I used to have many issues with 3rd locking me out for a second.

For the money, I would highly recommend this simple modification, especially when you see what the current TMM bushing looks like!
Installed today. And like another post says, "goes great with the rear motor mount". Install....kinda sucked. But worth it. Actually had that feeling of accomplishment when done. Does what it says. With the other mount and this...a lot of even traction....May make you want more power..haha. Cool deal for not a lot of cash. Thanks Corksport!
This product goes great with the Corksport rear motor mount, and for this price you would have to be crazy not to get it. Huge difference and this helps put your car's power to the ground.
Installed the insert. Butt dyno says there is an improvement, the center bolt was a PITA but to make it easier we supported the engine and raised it untill the oem tmm mount lifted off the bolts a good bit than the bolt came out easy with a breaker bar
What are the differences between the Mazda 3 2.5 TMM and the MS3 TMM?

CorkSport Reply:The shape.
For those having problems,

Go to Harbor Freight and get a two foot breaker bar for $10. Bolts come loose easy without any lube. Best tool in my toolbox.

"Give me a lever big enough and I will move........"
so any updates for a gen 1 mount

CorkSport Reply:No.
Ok fyi if you're interested in this part save your self the time and go buy some liquid wrench or a type of bolt loosening oil that you can let sit for at least an hour! I had this part sitting idle for nearly a month, 3 wrenches, 1 extension, and striped 2 cheap socket 17mm. Some people probably won't go through what I went through but it's worth it with all I iv gotten done to my mounts and shifter and bushings, power, ect... this pulled it together, I no longer miss gear, take off is stable, shifting is accurate in all gear and speed ranges, torque steer considerably decreased. Overall (with current supporting mods) this insert has pulled my whole speed3s power to the ground like a champ
Still cant get that bolt out ! Driving me mad
Looks great - does it fit a 2010 3 GT (2.5L), or are these for speed 3s only?

CorkSport Reply:These are specifically for the 2010-2013 Mazdaspeed 3.

Install was tough. Mainly breaking the center bolt on the mount. Took two of us breaking off two cheap sockets before managing to get this thing broken so we could take it off. The rest was cake. Definitely tighter feel and for the price, no brainer.

One piece of advice, only barley lift the transmission ... barely. If pulling the mount out after all the bolts are broken and the nuts are removed, the transmission is jacked up to high. I learned this the hard way.

Also, make sure you have a beef torque wrench to ensure the center bolt gets as tight as it needs to be ... I used a 3/8 TW first but it broke at 80 ... had to buy a 1/2" drive to get it tight enough.

Great product as I knew it would be. The reason that I am writing this review is to inform those who purchase this insert to go to Lowe's et al. and buy a 3 ft. piece of barstock as a cheater bar before you try to instal. Buying this bar will allow you to remove the stubborn center bolt so that you only have to disassemble once.

This product is a perfect match to the Corksport rear motor mount, and for this price you would have to be crazy not to get it.

I waited after winter to installed this insert and should have done sooner.

My car is a 'speed3 and installed the RMM before winter. Had shaking and rattling at idle and was never really good at shifting without some jerking. With this insert...wow....night and day!!! Telling you its worth it.

My car feel better, firmer and smoother. Shifting is also improved.

I like my car better now. Just feel right now!

Another great CS product.. Installed this after the RMM and together, they make a world of difference driving. Another plus was that the stock transmission mount (tiny compared to the CS one) was cracked so replacing it was a good thing to do anyways.

About installation, I had a big breaker bar to loosen that transmission bolt.. Maybe an impact wrench would've worked too? I had also supported the transmission not directly under the bolt.. bad mistake as the whole transmission shifted toward the front of the car by about 1-2 inches.. After replacing the mount, I lined and threading the transmission bolt but since the 4 surrounding bolts were off, I had to use a large lever to slide the transmission over so they would register over the 4 bolts. Once that's done, the rest is just putting everything back together. Well worth the investment.

Wow! I wasn't expecting much but the improvement this insert makes is almost as much as replacing the rear engine mount. Best of all my wife can now launch in 1st gear properly... every time... after 5 years! Easier to launch, no missed gear changes and huge WAF... what's not to like for $40? Seriously thinking about engine mount inserts now.
