Mazdaspeed 3 2010-2013 Transmission Mount Insert

I'm sure it doesn't compare to the full mount, but paired with the RMM you can't really beat it for $40. Nice little 1-2 hour job. Shifting felt crisp, just a little bit more NVH. Wheel hop is less noticeable. Need a passenger side motor mount now.

I installed this insert along with the other two motor mounts and it has transformed the car. It now feels like a taught race car. Torque steer is greatly reduced and shifting is easier. Pretty sure it won't fall out of 2nd gear anymore while doing autocross - the old rubber had virtually gone. On the downside, replacing all three mounts resulted in a huge increase of NVH, especially at low speed. It now sounds like a race car inside also. Maybe it will settle down as they bed in.

Installation was troublesome due to the center bolt that everyone talks about. My 250 ft.lb air impact driver wouldn't touch it. Eventually needed a 4ft cheater bar which snapped a ratchet I have had for 35 years. Must have taken about 400 ft.lbs to get it moving. Getting the bolts aligned afterwards also took forever due to not supporting the gearbox directly under the mount - I read someone else's advice too late. The insert was also difficult to seat fully until torquing down the bolts on the car which popped it into place.

The shifter feels more solid, the wheel hop is gone, and its much easier to launch the car all for $40. The install went smoothly because of the excellent instructions provided. Having an impact wrench made getting the center bolt off much easier (probably my favorite tool I own, makez a lot of tasks substantially faster and easier). Another great part from corksport

Another great CS product.. Installed this after the RMM and together, they make a world of difference driving. Another plus was that the stock transmission mount (tiny compared to the CS one) was cracked so replacing it was a good thing to do anyways.



About installation, I had a big breaker bar to loosen that transmission bolt.. Maybe an impact wrench would've worked too? I had also supported the transmission not directly under the bolt.. bad mistake as the whole transmission shifted toward the front of the car by about 1-2 inches.. After replacing the mount, I lined and threading the transmission bolt but since the 4 surrounding bolts were off, I had to use a large lever to slide the transmission over so they would register over the 4 bolts. Once that's done, the rest is just putting everything back together. Well worth the investment.

Great product as I knew it would be. The reason that I am writing this review is to inform those who purchase this insert to go to Lowe's et al. and buy a 3 ft. piece of barstock as a cheater bar before you try to instal. Buying this bar will allow you to remove the stubborn center bolt so that you only have to disassemble once.
