Hello, is this oil catch tank is suitable for diesel engines - e.g. Mazda 6 CD 143 p.s. with DPF? Please send the answer to my e-mail. Thanks! BR Orlin Necov
This is only designed for the mazdaspeed application.
Do these oil catch cans make your car smoke at idle? Because ever since I installed the corksport OCC it's been smoking at idle
You may have a routing issue or a blockage. Please send details to sales@corksport.com so our team can assist.
Do I need to clean out the filters in this Catch Can or will draining the oil out when needed simply be enough?
You can pull it out and clean it with brake cleaner as necessary if you wish.
Is there a recommended oil and weight? Would that change when running the catch can? For a 2011 MS3. Thank you.
Installing a catch can set up will not change the oil specs that are recommended for your motor.
Would you do everything the same from routing and placement of the catch can for a 09 mazda cx7. I was a bit confused on how it was routed but I think I understand it from the previous questions that were answered.
As long as you have the top port going to the intake vacuum port and the bottom one teed off with the cam case breather and PCV valve, you are good.
Will the standard location work with a SRI?
That will depend on the SRI design. We have not test fit it with any. However, it should be pretty simple to find alternate mounting points.
Why is this routing chosen for the OCC as opposed to a more simpler one such as the damond ms unit. Seems like itwill more pressure on the crankcase doing it the CS way. Please explain the benefits and the cons.
Because it will always be pulling vacuum. Even in boost when it needs it the most. If you go off the manifold it requires a check valve to prevent pressurization of the OCC and PCV system. This means your only ventilation at WOT is the valve cover breather and that means oil can get consumed or introduced into the induction system. So it actually helps reduce crankcase pressure more if you have it routed this way.
What size is the ID of the vent hose? I am interested in using this in a non-Mazda application. I had one on my MS6 but sold it with the car!
The Vent hoses are 14mm
If installed with the CorkSport Aluminum Skid Plate will the skid plate need to be removed in order to drain the catch can? Are there any tips/tricks for avoiding removal of the skid try in order to drain?
A few people have taken a hole saw to the tray so the draining of the OCC is simplified.
Is this OCC kit include a check valve?
No it does not. Its routed from the PCV/Valve cover and the turbo inlet pipe. The bung on the manifold gets plugged. When its routed this way, a check valve is not required.
Hi, What would it be the Placement of hose after having intalled the Mazda venting kit for smoking at Idle TBS? Thanks
You would want to set it up exactly like you would if you did not have the vent kit.
Are there concerns of aluminum can causing the hot engine air to condense in the winter and then freeze? I've hear of this in many applications during the winter, but don't like the idea of uninstalling for winter since it's such a pain to work with the pcv valve on my speed 3. Would an insulated jacket with a coolant line spiraling around the can help with any condensation and freezing?
In colder climates you can get the water vapor to freeze. A setup which the can was warmed would eliminate any freezing that could occur.
