Products in package

The 3rd generation Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 have proven to be an excellent all-rounder performance car and daily driver, but with recent availability of supercharging and turbocharging the OEM clutch is finding its limit. With an increase in torque and horsepower combined with an aging chassis, these vehicles often require upgraded clutches to handle the increased performance. CorkSport has teamed up with Clutch Masters to offer a performance upgrade for both the street and track.

2015 Mazda 3 stage 1 clutch

Street & Track:

The FX250 Pressure Plate and Disc utilizes a "hybrid" disc design with steel backed organic friction material on flywheel side and fiber tough friction material on the pressure plate side. With 110 percent increased holding capacity; this hybrid design pursues the line between track and street duty while maintaining easy daily driving characteristics. It is designed for street & enthusiast level track use in the 2014-2018 Mazda 3 MT 2.5 and 2013-2017 2.5 Mazda 6 MT; both naturally aspirated and forced induction.

2017 Mazda 3 stage 2 clutch kit

Street & Track +:

The FX350 Pressure Plate and Disc utilizes a more performance oriented fiber tough friction material on both sides of the pressure plate. With 110 percent increased holding capacity; this design pursues the line between track and street duty while with slightly more aggressive daily driving characteristics. It is designed for street & higher level track use in the 2014-2018 Mazda 3 MT and 2013-2017 Mazda 6 MT 2.5; both naturally aspirated and forced induction.

advisory header
  • Clutch Masters does NOT include new flywheel to crank hardware. OEM hardware can be reused but, new OEM or performance hardware is recommended.

  • Performance Clutches can engage harsher, require other upgraded parts, and show weaknesses in your drive train which the stock clutch did not point out. Any of the Clutch Masters options will increase transmission noise along with other sounds from the engine with the replacement of the stock dual mass flywheel which is included in the kit.

Comment
I'm very happy with the FX350 after 2k miles. It's better than stock because you get much more precise control of how much torque you're getting. If you want to smoothly accelerate the pedal throw is very predictable and linear; easy to get the slip you want and leave it there as necessary; no bouncy spring trying to buck you out of the slip. If you want all the torque right now it *will* grab and not shudder or bog the engine like the stock clutch did. It's my first performance clutch but my 6th overall but it feels like the best of both worlds for a small price: the heavy spring. I do drive differently because the pedal won't stay down with only the weight of my leg. It requires active muscle engagement. I use the clutch only when changing gear and don't sit at lights or coast with it down anymore just because I'm lazy and don't have to. During the break in period I did notice clutch chatter (a first for me) but it went away after a few hundred miles.
