CorkSport 1987-1988 Rx7 Engine Wiring Harness

CorkSport offers a replacement engine (emissions) wiring harness for the 1987-1988 (S4) Mazda Rx7 Turbo.  The harness is built by CorkSport to replace the ailing stock harness. (1987 model shown in the picture).  Click here for the full press release.

The harness is a totally new harness for the 1987-1988 Turbo FC RX-7. The harness uses new wire, terminals, connectors, and other components to ensure a long life. The detailed features below are all incorporated into the new harness.

Increased Wire size: The harness is built with new, larger wire to ensure the longevity of the new harness, aircraft grade shielded wire for the knock and O2 sensor signal, and even larger 14 gauge wire for the primary ground and primary power system in the harness.

Electrical Connectors: CorkSport has replaced all of the connectors that are we have been able to source; which includes the fuel injectors, emissions control solenoids, and others.

New Connector Terminals:  All available terminals have been replaced in the connectors including the air flow meter and ECU connections.

Heat Shielding:  High temp 3M tape is used in the construction of the harness. The 3M tape is CSA rated for 221 degrees Fahrenheit. We also use thermal reflective shielding along the harness path near the turbocharger. The thermo sleeve reflects back 70% of the heat and is able to continuously withstand 2000 degrees.

Options: There are several option selections for the harness shown below

Model Year:  This is for selecting between the 1987 and 1988 models.  The 1987 model used a resistor pack and low impedance fuel injectors.  Mazda changed the harness in 1988 to no resistor pack and high impendance injectors. 

Vehicle Type:  This selection is for vehicle who are either a factory model turbo Rx7 or a Rx7 which has been/or is going to be changed to a turbo model.  The wiring connections are different under the dash so this selection is critical.  If you do not know use your VIN to find out.

Firewall Grommit Color:  The firewall grommit is available in black or blue color.

Emission Control:  This selection is for race vehicles or show cars only that do not see driving on public roads.  This option will have all of the stock emissions controls/connectors removed.

Extra Pass Through Connection:  The CorkSport harness includes 2 extra wires with connectors for each side of the firewall included.  This select allows you to add up to an additional 6 extra wires to be built into the loom for running gauges, extra sensors, etc.

Core Charge: Some connectors are no longer available for the FC harness which means CorkSport needs to get some of your connectors back from your original engine harness.  There is a $150 core charge on the harness which is refunded after CorkSport gets the old connectors back from you and inspects them.  Broken connectors do not get credit back.  Please call CorkSport at 360 260 2675 if you have any questions about the core return.  CorkSport includes an easy to follow sheet for the connectors that need to be returned.  There is also a pre-paid UPS return tag (US customers only) to send back the core connectors.

Please note custom/optioned harnesses require a 2-3 week build time.
