Description

Long awaited, CorkSport has developed the best Turbo Inlet Pipe (TIP) upgraded for 4th generation Mazdas equipped with the SkyActiv-G 2.5T engine. Designed to be used in tandem with the CorkSport Short Ram Intake to give you the extra performance and noise that you’ve been looking for.

The CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe drastically increases the overall flow potential of your intake system to efficiently feed the turbocharger. This is done by innovative design, maximizing the space available to increase the cross-sectional area of the turbo inlet pipe from the small OEM 2.5 inch to a larger 3 inch.

The CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe is Roto-Molded to provide fitment for multiple models including the Mazda 3, 6, CX-5, CX-9, CX-30 and CX-50 outfitted with the 2.5L Skyactiv Turbo engine. Whether you’re upgrading your existing CorkSport Short Ram Intake, (with or without the CorkSport Heat Shield) or are getting the combo all at once, the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe is a great mod to level up your build.

The CorkSport Advantage

Fitment Focused:

Since the Mazda 3, CX-30, and CX-50 turbo have the tightest route to the turbo out of all the models, we focused on them to ensure great fitment. The main challenge of fitting the large 3-inch cross-sectional area of the CS turbo inlet pipe into the factory location was the battery tie-down. The battery tie-down protrudes into the path of the OEM turbo inlet pipe and further restricts the airway. To compensate for this, the CorkSport TIP had to increase in height more than the width to provide an indentation for the battery tie-down to ensure there is enough room when the motor moves under load. These changes allowed us to fit the 3-inch cross-sectional area pipe without moving to a different battery setup.

Design Logic:

While the competition is using a small 2.5-inch metal pipe that needs to be crushed to fit; CorkSport has thought outside the box. CorkSport developed a turbo inlet pipe that optimizes the path to maintain a continuous cross-sectional area of a 3-inch pipe. This gives the CorkSport Turbo inlet Pipe a 64% increase in the cross-sectional area vs a generic 2.5-inch metal pipe.

Smooth Flow:

Non-turbulent flow (smooth flow) is key to maximizing flow potential. To develop the best intake system, every detail must be thought out and purposeful. The CorkSport TIP takes that detail seriously, even with the transition between the silicone coupler and turbo inlet pipe itself. The step in the silicone better smooths the airflow as it enters the TIP vs hitting a large edge, thus reducing turbulence.

Testing & Validation:

Thousands of street and dyno miles completed on various models ranging from the quick and nimble Mazda 3 to the family-sized CX-9, the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe has been put through the paces.

With the limited tuning abilities currently available we are being limited by the ECU load limits and controls. However, we are seeing solid gains across the majority of the RPM range; gains of 5-17wHP & 9-31wTQ where measured with a DynaPak chassis dyno with the installation of the TIP & SRI Combo on an otherwise stock vehicle.

Materials & Manufacturing:

The CorkSport TIP uses a manufacturing method that is becoming more and more common in the engine bay, roto-molding. This process allows us to create a complex and unique shape which was the key to maximizing the available space between the engine and battery. While this does cost a lot more to develop, the final product delivers better results which is our #1 goal for the community.

Manufactured from cross-link high-density polyethylene (XPDE) and finished to blend into the engine bay for a more OEM look.

Hardware:

All hardware required for installation is included along with full-color installation instructions. All bolts and the rivet nuts for holding the tie down are made from stainless steel for a great-looking, long-lasting, and corrosion-resistant connection.

Color Options:

Choose your choice of silicone colors for your new Turbo Inlet Pipe. The front main silicone has the option of Red, Blue or Black colors (the other smaller couplers will be black only and are pretty hidden in the back of the engine bay). You decide if you want to be stealthy or loud!

Seamless Integration:

Whether you are just starting or already have the CorkSport Short Ram Intake and Heatshield, the CorkSport Turbo Inlet Pipe is designed to work seamlessly with both.

Absolute MUST HAVE to complete intake mod. Installed the SRI about a year before this TIP kit was available and was pretty happy with SRI alone but could tell there was still restriction even though performance gains were obvious over OEM. Installed this TIP kit and results are next level period!! This customized inlet pipe is a beast over OEM “straw”. Don’t hesitate and get the entire combo kit and you will instantly know what I am talking about. My 4th mod and without a doubt the best! As always with CS, not only is their customer service 2nd to none in performance market, their components are top notch quality and their attention to detail is insane. They think of everything down to the smallest detail. Nice to be able to call the shop and doesn’t matter who picks up they all know their products inside and out and have the answer for you. Get this combo kit ASAP and you’ll be blown away by gains and responsiveness!

The TIP improves upon every aspect of just the SRI. Even better throttle response, harder pulling, and better turbo noises. It’s also a necessary piece to the puzzle of tuning for these cars! The larger size of the TIP compared to the OEM inlet pipe is wild. Because of its size difference it is a tight fit, you just need to wiggle things around until you get it right.

I can tell the throttle response was improved and the turbo spool was a little bit louder. Installation was easy with Corksport's instructions. This combined with the short ram intake really make the engine bay pop!

2019 CX5 turbo, fits great! Now, the cx5 seems to build more power more quickly! The only suggestion I have is to have a subset of instructions/parts that accounts for having the CS Oil Catch Can installed. I was able to manage by using the OEM breather hose and OEM TIP fitting: in trying to remove the OCC hose from the OEM TIP, the OCC hose was removed but with the OEM TIP fitting still attached. I could not remove the OEM TIP fitting from OCC hose. So, I used the OEM breather hose as a medium to connect the OCC hose-OE fitting to the barbed fitting of the CS TIP. Other than that, I still give this a 5/5 rating!

IT’S GIRTHY AS HELL. Very nice quality, flow is def improved from the restrictive stock one and really does look good in the engine bay. Looks like it will support lot more HP than we can push now!!

Conner Davidson

Love the turbos noises! Feels so much better with the faster turbo spool! Plus it brings the engine bay together!

Install went great, no issues at all. I used my factory air box with K&N panel filter; which wasn’t fun to assemble, but possible with zero modifications. I don’t care for these exposed filters personally. Power was very surprising above 4,000rpm and it pulls all the way to redline; rather than falling on its face after 4,500rpm. This part in conjunction with the Burger JB4 tuner is amazing, regardless of using the tuner or running stock tune; I tried both. Bottom line, worth absolutely every penny and this is how it should have came from the factory. Buy it, you won’t regret the decision.

More flow/air = more power

I feel as if my car had breathed a sigh of relief, upon start-up after this was installed. With the CS SRI, heat shield, this turbo inlet pipe, and the 80mm exhaust, my car is no longer forced to breathe through a straw, for the most part and so to speak! Whilst I can't say I've noticed any sort of power increase or decrease with the factory tune, I do believe the car is more responsive, linear and consistent with its power delivery. The install went smoothly and without any significant issues. Though the instructions were clear, we did end up improvising on just a few minor things to move the install along a bit quicker. Unfortunately, we also suffered one casualty: we had installed one of the clamps in such a way that, when re-installing my engine cover, it managed to cause one of the 'feet' of the engine cover to snap off. *moment of silence* No matter—just be mindful! All in all, I certainly recommend!
