Mazdaspeed 3 TMIC Top Mount Intercooler

Description

The Performance Top Mount Intercooler (TMIC) provides solid power gains and a great value to the Mazdaspeed 3, MS6 and CX7 turbo. Made from CorkSport’s own custom cast end tanks which are TIG welded to a 3.0” thick bar and plate core, the Mazdaspeed TMIC provides added performance by removing the bottleneck restriction of the stock intercooler and increasing resistance to heat soak by using thicker materials. The cold pipe connection is CNC milled and drilled for a leak proof connection and all bolt holes have been capped off.

The Performance Mazda Advantage

Better Cooling:

16 Rows of Cooling Fins help drastically lower post turbo air temperatures. Proven on a SuperFlow test bench to provide 46% more airflow over the stock intercooler.

More Capacity:

With 3.0" of thickness, the extra capacity allows significant cooling capabilities. During testing, the Mazdaspeed 3 TMIC showed an average decrease in pressure across the core by 53% and an increase in overall efficiency of 25% over the stock intercooler.

Cast Aluminum:

End tanks made of cast aluminum are durable and long lasting. Plus with a bar and plate intercooler core, you remove bottlenecking for more power with less boost.

The CorkSport Advantage

  • Optional Aluminum Shroud For maximum performance and airflow, or maintain your factory engine shroud to keep a stealth look.
  • Reduces pre-detonation (knock) of the fuel air charge
  • Increased resistance to heat soak thanks to larger capacity and better airflow
  • Fits the 2007-2009 Mazdaspeed 3, 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed 6, 2010+ Mazdaspeed 3, and Cx7
  • Choose from custom finishing options Rolled Finish for a Gloss look, or Sand Blasted for a Rough Matte finish.
  • Corksport Service and Support Receive full color installation instructions, all of the needed installation hardware, and knowledgeable telephone installation support

*Stock shroud molding may cause some fins to bend slightly. This will NOT affect performance or efficiency of your TMIC. The easiest and recommended way of removing the offending culprit is to trim the TMIC shroud. See Shroud Fitment Document for more details.

Top Mount Intercooler bolts to the car like instructed but as far as ease of reusing the factory cover (which is the only reason why I wanted this TMIC) is not going to be done without a fight. I understand that the backside of the cover will have to be ground down to be reused and that is not the issue. The issue is that there is a huge gap at the front of the cover where it attaches with the mounting bolts between the cover in the intercooler so now I am going to have to completely change bolts there and use a 1/4" to 3/8" spacer between to attach the cover properly and then at the back of the cover where the alignment (triangle) part of the cover is interfering with the corksport strut tower brace.

How does the shroud make "maximum performance gains"? Can anyone explain this?

Perfect fit and looks great! Turbo spools much faster and power is consistent. BATs dropped much lower than the stock TMIC and all this while maintaining a stealth look! Thanks for another great product!

By far the most intriguing upgrade from Corksports. Simply stunning how well this one part makes your MS3 perform more efficient with the power delivery. The turbo spools way faster and boost continues into the higher RPM ranges much better now while putting down a bit more HP/TQ too. Running an AP safe tune now until I install the CS FP internals and currently have the Stage II Intake/TIP and MZR bypass valve installed. Still safe with FP readings! Beginning to get pretty fast now... Ohh and thanks for the postcard CS! The wait wasn't bad with the IC so no worries! Hit me up if you guys ever swing through SC for god know what reason...streets are getting packed with more crazy shit every day!

Sorry Novice Here...When you say tune what do you mean? I plan on buying the TMIC For my speed 6. Thanks

I have 2012 MS3 & already have catback & short ram intake & I'm planning on purchasing the TMI, down pipe + 80 mm cat & a BOV. Will the engine hold up fine with all these mods or does maintenance need be applied?

Jason

Got this for a great price on a holiday sale, and it's definitely a worthy investment. I'm consistently hitting boost targets even at higher ambient temperatures, and the core is shedding heat at highway speeds much faster than I anticipated for a heavy bar and plate design.
