Description
The CorkSport Rear Torsion Bar adds much needed roll resistance to the rear of the Mazda 2 to help keep all four wheels planted (wheel lift is an issue with this sub-compact Mazda). You can read about our intial Mazda 2 performance driving at a local SCCA AutoX here. This bar was a result of a needed improvement for the Mazda 2 through our experience in competition.
Our CorkSport Rear Torsion Bar was designed in 3D CAD software and optimized for strength and weight using FEA analysis. The brace was then thouroughly tested on the Mazda 2 to provide added roll resistance in the rear of the vehicle. With such a short wheel base, the 2 can lift a rear wheel during hard cornering. The rear torsion bar will help reduce wheel lift and result in quicker cornering and decreased understeer.
So now that you're interested, why should you buy the CorkSport Rear Torsion Bar? Let's cover the basics:
- The CorkSport Rear Torsion Bar is hand-crafted from 1inch diameter aircraft grade aluminum and fully TIG welded along the mount points to resist fatigue over time.
- The Mazda Rear Torsion Bar is legal in SCCA B-Spec and Pirelli World Challenge TCB racing.
- Black powder coated. A durable finish to survive the elements and road debris.
- The bar was CAD designed and optimized for strenghth using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). This ensures that the torsion bar is light weight, yet strong and rigid to resist body roll.
- The hardware is grade 8, zinc coated steel to provide solid mounting without rusting.
CorkSport Torsion Bar features full color installation instructions, all of the needed installation hardware, and knowledgeable telephone installation support. Installation of the brace will take 1/2 hour with basic hand tools.

After 24 hours of street driving, the rear end certainly feels better planted and stable over bumps. On the other hand, the front tires feel like they barely touch the pavement. Guess I need a front sway bar.....

This is a follow up to our previous review. We have spent the past two weekends running The Deuce at Mid Ohio, both on the Pro Course and Club Course. We saw significant improvement in the handling of the car, as we pushed the car, harder and harder throughout both weekends. With the addition of the rear bar, the car felt planted as we carried higher entry speeds into every turn on one of the most technical tracks in America. We can only imagine how much more improvement we'll achievement with upgraded struts and shocks, which will be our next Corksport purchase. Overall Lauri showed a 10 second improvement over her fastest time from the week before. Was it all due to the CS bar, not entirely, but it did inspire confidence to push the car harder and harder. If you have a Mazda 2 and you want to track, CS products will inspire confidence! Marlon & Lauri Haase-Sumlin NASA Great Lakes Group Leaders

My husband ordered the bar on the August 10th and it was on our door in Ohio by August 12th! My husband was instructing with one of our local HPDE Group and we brought "The Deuce "out to play at Nelson Ledges and to day that the bar added stabilty and a better feel on the high speed turns would not be fair. The solid feel of the car, inspired more confidence througout the weekend, as my lap times dropped every session. We own a 2003 Mazdaspeed Peotege that is also a dedicated track car, the 2 with bar is more fun to drive, so much so, it is my preferred track vehicle. We have a Speed 3 and a Speed Protege, fun cars, but the 2 with Corksport Rear Bar, SRI and air duct has transformed the 2 to a mini track beast. Me and "The Deuce" will be headed to Mid Ohio, which is my home track, should be a blast! Thank you Corksport for your great products!
