{"id":9202,"date":"2017-10-05T11:59:09","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/?p=9202"},"modified":"2017-10-13T11:14:25","modified_gmt":"2017-10-13T19:14:25","slug":"the-first-corksport-branded-ride-mod-vote-for-the-cbr-graphics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/the-first-corksport-branded-ride-mod-vote-for-the-cbr-graphics\/","title":{"rendered":"The First CorkSport Branded Ride Mod + Vote For The CBR Graphics!"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<h2>For those of you who have forgotten or who did not see <a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/we-want-you-to-help-us-design-the-next-corksport-branded-ride\/\">the initial post<\/a>\u00a0we recently purchased a brand-new 2018 Mazda 3 Hatchback. <strong>Dubbed the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">CorkSport Branded Ride (CBR)<\/span>, we set out to start making it less like your mom\u2019s car and more like something that suits the CorkSport name.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div>We turned to you all for suggestions and got some great feedback. <strong>We heard everything from wide bodykits, &#8220;slam it to the ground&#8221;, turbos and engine swaps, to easier mods like wheels, coil overs, and a new front lip.<\/strong><\/div>\n<h2>We\u2019re sure you\u2019re anxious to find out where we\u2019ve started:\u00a0Intake? Exhaust? Springs? Our choice might surprise you.<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>But before we dig in to the first mod for the CBR, we first want to give you guys an opportunity to do something really fun:<\/h4>\n<h2><strong>Vote To Pick One of The 4 Graphic Concepts For The CorkSport Branded Ride!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Following up on our introduction to the CBR, our team here has decided to involve you guys in a whole new level of making this car look sick: <strong>Body Graphics!<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>Not only are we asking of your ideas and feedback for the mechanics of the CBR, we want you to decide on the aesthetics too. <strong>We want YOU to choose what this things actually looks like.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>Our design team has developed 4 different concepts for the CBR graphic<\/strong>s, and we must admit, they look pretty sweet. My vote is on Concept #3 for sure. \u2013 @TagYourFriend, what&#8217;s your vote?? #CorksportCBR&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>We will gather votes together and whatever concept the CorkSport Community chooses will ultimately be brought to life on the real CBR!<\/h3>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<hr \/>\n<h1>Now, on to the First CBR Mod:<\/h1>\n<div>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9208\" src=\"\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0234-2k.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0234-2k.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0234-2k-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0234-2k-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0234-2k-1024x681.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>We did not want to go crazy right off the bat, so we looked at where the average Mazda 3 owner might start.<\/strong> Maybe a <a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/corksport-2014-mazda-3-license-plate-bracket-relocation-kit.html\">license plate kit<\/a>, <a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/corksport-2014-mazda-3-skyactiv-power-series-short-ram-intake.html\">short ram intake<\/a>? <a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/2014-mazda-3-cat-back-exhaust-sedan-hatchback.html\">Catback exhaust<\/a>? <a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/corksport-2014-mazda-3-lowering-spring-set.html\">Lowering springs<\/a>? \u2013 All good guesses.<\/div>\n<h3>We decided to go for a reliability mod that many people may not consider right away:<strong> a <a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/mazda-3-and-6-oil-catch-can-kit.html\">CorkSport Oil Catch Can kit<\/a>.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/corksport.com\/mazda-3-and-6-oil-catch-can-kit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9220 size-full\" src=\"\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mazda-Oil-Catch-Can-Horz-Assembled2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"469\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mazda-Oil-Catch-Can-Horz-Assembled2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Mazda-Oil-Catch-Can-Horz-Assembled2-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Now, why would we install this right away on a brand new car?<\/strong> It shouldn\u2019t have any issues with engine health. \u2013 Well, that&#8217;s the exact reason we installed it.<\/h3>\n<h5>If it doesn\u2019t have any issues right now and the engine is clean and new, then why not keep it that way?<\/h5>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">As an engine operates, oil mist, fuel vapor, water vapor, and other gases can pass from the crankcase to the intake using the stock PCV system. Over time, as these gases condense, they form gunk and carbon buildup on valves, piston tops, and other vital engine components. <strong>An oil catch can exists to catch all of the oil mist and other vapors before they get back to the intake and dirty all of the nice clean engine components.<\/strong> Additionally, these other gases do not do any favors to the combustion cycle. \u2013 Just ask anyone who has emptied one during an oil change; what an OCC collects is pretty nasty.<\/span><\/div>\n<h2>Now let\u2019s get to the install.<\/h2>\n<div><strong>Locating the can itself is a snap, and finds a home in the driver\u2019s side fender well.<\/strong>\u00a0Routing the hoses is the difficult part, surprisingly, as you have to gain access to some of the factory PCV hose. This means removing the air box, intake tube, and even the starter. Once the factory hose is removed, the new hoses are installed and routed to the OCC.<\/div>\n<h3>Finally, we added the ball valve to the bottom of the CorkSport Oil Catch Can, which means next time the CBR needs an oil change we have an easy way to drain the OCC as well.<\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9207\" src=\"\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0272-CROP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3430\" height=\"2281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0272-CROP.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0272-CROP-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0272-CROP-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSC_0272-CROP-1024x681.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h1>So what\u2019s next for the CBR? <strong>That\u2019s completely up to you!<\/strong><\/h1>\n<div><strong>Help us decide by submitting ideas for what YOU would do if this was your car.<\/strong><\/div>\n<h5>REMINDER: We will give you cred for submitting an idea that we use for the mods.
