My buddy back in Arizona, Travis was selling his Evo 10 wheels. They were freshly powder coated, and he had the ability to ship them from his work. He was nice enough to make that happen for me. <strong>Since I was getting new wheels on the way, I knew it was time to drop it, so I purchased <\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3-lowering-springs.html\" title=\"\">lowering springs<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>.<\/strong> Since my <a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3\/\" title=\"\">Mazdaspeed 3<\/a> only had 15k on it at the time, I opted to keep the OEM shocks and struts, knowing <a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3-and-mazda-3-coilovers-suspension-2004-2013.html\" title=\"\">Coil-overs<\/a> were down the road. <strong>But, it is advised to use the upgraded <\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazda-lowering-springs-coilovers\/\" title=\"\">shocks and struts<\/a> with lowering springs, especially on older suspension. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2.-EVO-Wheels-Lowered.jpg\" alt=\"Mazdaspeed 3 Rear\" class=\"wp-image-10023\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2.-EVO-Wheels-Lowered.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2.-EVO-Wheels-Lowered-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2.-EVO-Wheels-Lowered-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/corksport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2.-EVO-Wheels-Lowered-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After it was all said and done, I was happy with this look. It stayed like this for a few months until I got bored again. <strong>The mod bug started to itch, so, I decided it was time to upgrade to a <\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3-power-series-3-5-inch-intake-system.html\" title=\"\">3.5\u201d intake<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> and get a port and polished <a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3-intake-manifold.html\" title=\"\">manifold<\/a> to see what this<a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-k04-turbo-upgrade-replacement-exchange.html\" title=\"\"> KO4<\/a> could do.<\/strong> With the <a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazda-performance-cold-air-short-ram-intake-systems\/mazdaspeed-3-performance-short-ram-air-intake-systems\/\" title=\"\">3.5\u201d intake<\/a> it also needed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3-51r-battery-box.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a battery relocation kit<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowing that the Mazdaspeed Big Turbo was down the road, I thought about the future and where I could save potential dollars. We got it up to about 325-330 WHP on the <a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-k04-turbo-upgrade-replacement-exchange.html\" title=\"\">K04 Turbo <\/a>with some e85. For California\u2019s terrible 91 Octane fuel, I was satisfied. I also threw on boost and oil pressure gauges to monitor more in the Mazdaspeed. Brian of BMSPEC. <strong>During this time, BMSPEC was just a side project for him as we worked full time as an Engineer in the corporate world.<\/strong> He ended up taking me under his wing (No pun intended) and taught me a thing or two. In return, I helped him out after work to make Aero Parts like wing extensions and splitters. <strong>I assisted where I could with the dirty work, and my car was one of the beta testers. I requested that the mirrors be painted black, Roof black, fog bezels black, and the rear valence black.<\/strong> It took several months for them to finish, as I gave them permission to take their time. Paired with this was an upgraded <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazda-boost-control-solenoid.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EBCS<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/free-mazdaspeed-3.5-bar-map-sensor-pnp.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAP sensor<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Mazda Intercooler was also upgraded from a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/corksport-mazdaspeed-top-mount-intercooler.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TMIC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to an<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/2010-2013-mazdaspeed-3-fmic-front-mount-intercooler.html\" title=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> FMIC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <strong>She was starting to turn into the car I had aspired to build. But, as all us car guys know, this just means the bar gets raised higher and our aspirations grow further!<\/strong> An <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/corksport.com\/mazdaspeed-3-intake-manifold.html\" title=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">upgraded intake manifold<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was also added to even out air flow between runners even more. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The time is now late 2016. I got offered a job with CorkSport right after Thanksgiving. So I packed up, said goodbye to all my close friends to set out on a venture in the PNW.
