Protection in all Environments:

The factory cover or splash shield is only designed to protect the engine and transmission from small debris and water and cannot stand up against more dangerous objects found on and off road. The CS Main Skid Tray on the other hand is made out of 5mm thick aluminum to add a solid barrier between your drivetrain and the road. This change in material and increase in thickness allow you to travel off the beaten path and through tough environments with more confidence.



Choose your Protection:

Two levels of protection are available with the CorkSport skid plate. The OEM splash shield is made up of two sections, the main section under the engine and the front section under the front bumper. The CS skid plate main section can be purchased as a standalone unit for protection for your vital engine and drivetrain components while keeping the factory plastic front section. We also offer a combo kit that replaces the OEM front section in addition to the main rear section. This front CS section is made from thinner, 2.25mm thick aluminum for a solid increase in protection for your radiator and other forward components, while keeping weight to a minimum. We also offer an upgrade kit if you start with just the rear section and decide you want the front section later!



Precision Fitment and Design:

The base shape of the main CS Skid Tray resembles the OE design to ensure proper fitment and coverage of the engine, transmission, and transfer case. The mounting points for the main skid tray on the other hand have been changed to allow for the use of larger hardware to provide a stronger mounting solution. These new mounting locations require slight modification to the factory front splash shield section if you are installing the rear tray only. These modifications do not affect reinstallation of the factory cover if you want to go back to the OE setup for any reason down the road. In addition, these minor modifications are not required if you install the full two-piece option!



OEM Features:

The CorkSport Skid Tray includes an integrated oil cover that is recessed into the main plate so that it does not get snagged on any objects or terrain when driving. It can be easily removed without uninstalling the main plate for quick oil changes. The CS Skid Tray also includes an air duct, similar to the OEM splash shield, which helps supply fresh air to the transfer case to keep it operating in the intended temperature range.



Materials:

The CorkSport Main Skid Tray is made out of 5mm 5052 aluminum that is laser cut and precisely formed so that installation and fitment are on point. This choice of material is the reason why the CS Skid Tray will outperform the protection of the stock cover in tough conditions. We also include aluminum standoffs that allow the usage of larger mounting hardware to securely mount the tray. The optional front section is constructed using our standard 2.25mm aluminum for a major improvement over the OEM plastic, without the excess weight for an area that doesn’t need as much protection. All hardware needed for the installation is included and all hardware is either stainless steel or zinc coated steel to provide protection against corrosion.



  • Minor modification required (two holes drilled) to OEM plastic splash shield if installing rear CS skid plate section alone. No modification required for front and rear CS skid plate install.
  • Adding the CorkSport skid plate will add approximately __lbs. of weight to your CX-50.
  • Due to the thicker material and stronger mounting locations, front ground clearance is reduced slightly by the CS skid plate—approximately __mm (__in).
  • The CS front skidplate section requires the rear CS skidplate section for installation
