The CorkSport Advantage

Sound Boost:

The CorkSport mid-pipe exhaust kit completely replaces the OEM mid pipes with 63.5mm mandrel bent pipe and a pass-thru resonator. The larger pipe adds a great sound and tone for the backroads while the high-flowing resonators control drone so your car is still comfortable on the daily commute! We tested multiple resonator setups in both the axle back and midpipe sections and found that the asymmetric axle back design and large oval resonator in the midpipe results in the absolute best combination of tone, volume, and drone control for your MZ3.

Horsepower Gains:

What good is sound without a little power to go with it? Installing the CorkSport Cat-Back Exhaust (with the CorkSport Short Ram Intake previously installed) netted us approximately 20wTQ and 10-18wHP. You can see significant gains from 2700rpm through the rpm range til redline at 6200rpm.

OEM Fitment:

Each CS mid pipe exhaust system was designed from the ground up to fit just like your OEM exhaust system. We offer two different midpipe setups for great fitment, no matter if your vehicle is AWD or FWD. Don’t worry though, both use the same resonator design so you know your car will sound great, regardless of your drivetrain!

Cylinder Deactivation:

If your Mazda 3 is equipped with cylinder deactivation don’t be worried because we have a solution for you. Utilizing a bracket made out of 304 stainless steel, you can mount your cylinder deactivation motor securely out of the way to ensure no check engine lights are set and also reduce the restriction caused by the factory internal valve.

Materials & Manufacturing:

The CorkSport mid pipe exhaust is made from fully polished, mandrel bent, 304 stainless steel for a fantastic look that will stand up to the elements and keep your Mazda breathing easy. All joints use TIG welds for long lasting strength and all hanger locations have extra bracing to ensure a secure exhaust for years to come. Lastly, each exhaust comes with all hardware and gaskets that are needed for install to keep your install day running smoothly!

  • Midpipe Only Upgrade: These, with your current CorkSport Axle Back Exhaust, will make a complete Cat Back Exhaust system.
  • NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) in the cabin of your vehicle will be increased by the installation of this exhaust. We highly recommend you view the above video to hear the exhaust note inside and outside the vehicle.
  • Cylinder deactivation will still function, but a more noticeable tone during cylinder deactivation will be heard with the non-use of the valve in the exhaust piping.
  • Not confirmed to work with 2.0L SkyX engine. Use at your own risk.
  • Exhaust will fit on vehicles equipped with the turbo engine, however, a larger CS exhaust is in development specifically for turbo models!
  • Does NOT fit a CX-30.

After rocking the CorkSport Axle-Back with the OEM midpipe for just over a year now, I figured it was time for a change. While I loved the sound of the Axle-Back Exhaust, I was needing a little more zoom-zoom. On the first cold start, the Axle-Back vs Cat-Back sounds were pretty similar. After driving however, the deeper and louder tones from this midpipe are evident and HEAVENLY. I haven’t experienced any drone or issues… Zero regrets with this upgrade!

I installed the Corksport 2.5" mid-pipe to my 2021 Mazda 3. Previous to the install, since I bought the car 10,000 miles ago, I had a massive exhaust leak from the flex-pipe to mid-pipe flange. The install was pretty straightforward. However the mid-pipe to axle back flange has a very minor exhaust leak and no matter how I tightened it, I cannot get rid of it. I called Corksport and followed their instructions over and over again with no luck on getting rid of that small exhaust leak. However there is no leak whatsoever from any of the other flanges. The stock system had a massive leak. While installing the midpipe, I also came across many crazy corner cutting on the underside of my car. There were 3 bolts missing from the OEM chassis brace on the undercarriage, and there we also 2 washers missing. The exhaust hanger that hold the mid-pipe was a weird non-OEM hanger that is .5" shorter than the OEM one. I replaced all of these odd parts with OEM ones. I'm happy that the mid-pipe finally doesn't have a massive leak from the header. My car is much quieter now and pulls harder especially from 1,000 to 3,500 rpm. This cat-back was recommended to my by my tuner, Daniel from DrTuned.

If you have any axle back exhaust from Magnaflow to borla etc. this mid pipe will fit with those mufflers. I will tell all of us who could be reading this review. I recommend buying a new crushed gasket from Mazda or reusing the gasket from you aftermarket axle back. Because I had a problem with an exhaust leak from the crushed gasket on the oem downpipe.Beside that I will definitely get this in addition to you axle back.

I wasn't 100% happy with corksport axle back but after installing this midpipe it got so much better car has a deep sound but it's quieter on idle than axleback which was one of my issues another issues that got fixed after installing this is drone disappeared and overall it sounds so much better it feels like this exhaust should only be made as a catback not axleback (without midpipe) but that's my opinion also I did whole trunk sound insulation (after installing axleback) which helped with the noise levels inside a ton and made catback sound quieter than axleback

Amazing…..

Was able to install on 2019 FWD Manual Transmission. Hardest part was disconnecting the O2 Sensor and the Cylinder Deactivation Valve. Install was a breeze with no CEL or exhaust leaks. Pairs well with the axle back exhaust for a nice sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzYIpW0HCf0 Cold start
